Great week for Trump obviously, that is why the left is so upset. America deserved Hilary, but they got Trump. They should be extremely grateful.

Pretty soon Trumptards are going to need excavation equipment to assist them with the lowering of the bar.

Those look much nicer than the ones I had in Medellin. The empanadas there are grease bombs. Cheap enough, mind you, as a place on La Ochenta had 'em at COP 300 (10 cents US) each.

^we also have empanadas in PI - from the Spanish heritage. Usually eaten as a snack, not in a meal. In a mall near me, an empanada costs 24 pesos, around 40 USD cents. Different fillings - chicken, pork, beef, tuna.

^^I was disappointed that the lady in the video didn't make her empanada dough herself...

Saw these advertised on a Bangkok food group and I think Jamaican flavours wrapped in pastry would be nice to try for something different. They've got savoury and sweet, the pics certainly look good. Jamaican Eatz | Home

@skkin & cyrille - usually the fillings are made from fresh meat or fish, as it's cheaper to do so. You could put Vienna sausage or Spam, but since those things are a bit pricey, then the empanada would be more expensive too - would become too costly for a snack/ merienda. When I was a student, an empanada was 10-15 pesos, a cheap & filling snack. Sometimes they put potato & carrot in the filling as extenders.

Btw, Spam is so pricey now! I haven't bought it in ages, so I don't know. It's now PHP 129 per can of Spam - when I last bought it, it was around PHP 100. At the supermarket yesterday, there was a family searching for the regular flavor Spam (the blue one), because only the Spicy one (red) was available. Since it wasn't there, they bought Ma Ling instead (Ma Ling is a brand of luncheon meat from China).

Reminds me of the "Goodbye Spam, Hello Ma Ling" memes that came out here in PI when Duterte started siding towards China than the USA. Heh...

^ katie, I'm not quite sure which is more disgusting...Spam or Vienna Sausages. What a way to ruin a good empanada.

Fresh meat is the way to go.

    Yeah...tough times.

Fresh meat and fish sounds a lot better.

^^ saw that Libby's Vienna sausage at the supermarket yesterday too. I didn't know about their sausages, as I only knew about their corned beef. Spam & Libby's are for middle class & rich crowd here, as they cost more than local brands. When I was a kid, eating Spam was special, because imported products were so expensive. Now I don't buy them anymore, since I'm trying to cut down on processed foods.

I've been to Vienna, Austria and I didn't see that kind of sausage. The sausages there (wurst) were mostly big. So where did the product Vienna sausage (in a can) come from?

Most of that sort of canned muck originates from the US.

They probably spray cheese on them too.
