Sorry to butt in, and this is not to praise or criticise his former or current beliefs, but I would check out Maajid Nawaz's form before he did his massive public u-turn for legitimacy to land himself a job at LBC.

Didn't miss it at all, and I'm certainly not going to get involved in a slanging match. We could look at his entire life if you feel we should discuss everything, but since you brought it up, how do you reconcile Nawaz's former beliefs with the QF 'reformist' agenda, his association with Hizb ut Tahrir, do you see Ed Hussain as a sincere reformist, or is as somebody famously posted: "EDL and QF: two cheeks of the same arse."

Must confess handsome salaries and expenses from the millions handed over by the Brit gov is quite an incentive to play the right tunes, especially when your former tunes were attracting unwanted attention.

What I do know is when Robinson went to jail the last time,quilliam its reported took care of his wife and children,at the time Robinson was leaving the EDL and just happened Nawaz approached him, Robinson then became less aggressive in his approach and has found backers for his agenda, and now is becoming tolerated and listened to more,what I've seen and listened to over the last couple of days,is that UKIP are going to use this to find a different support base,and possibly Robinson has been thrown into the lions den.

TR may have been thrown to the lions by HMgov in the form of Sajid Javid, the new broom wishing to send out a rather scary message, which is probably pissing off May who's too weak and distracted to do anything about it, but not from his backers; the set piece borrowed from the KGB handbook seems to have seriously pissed off a lot of people, even on the left.

While TR can't shake off blotches in his past which will always haunt him, Nawaz did much the same u-turn towards acceptability and it earned him respect and lots of money in bribes from HMgov. But any deals you refer to that were made by HMgov with Nawaz and his crew, imho, are unlikely to be worth much because neither in their right mind should be trusting the other.
