not everyone, a lot of the updates are about security and most people like those updates.

they are not security updates, they don't provide more security, they patch system flaws with other system flaws, and they are completely pointless

you would think after 20 years of patching security, most users would have got a clue that MS doesn't have any,

I implemented all the actions recommended to stop Win 10 doing daily updates, daily security updates etc.

My laptop still insists on updating Win 10 daily....

it was really nothing, took me 5min to figure out once I put my mind into it

what I don't understand is why nobody else did it before and posted about it, did a lot of Google search and couldn't find the solution outside the easy "Service" option

I was having a nightmare with the 1709 upgrade on one machine.

Endless loops of failed installs, rollbacks and uninvited re-attempts. The Powershell get-WindowsUpdateLog does not show any details of what is actually going wrong during the upgrade.

I am now using this tool to keep everything up to date but selectively avoid the 1709 update.

I will wait for 1803 to mature a bit and maybe try that one.

I sometimes download the updates and sometimes not.

also, was able to free up an extra 10GB of useless cache and download files from MS
