Police were looking Thursday for two assailants in connection with the deadly stabbing of a 26-year-old man in northern Bangkok.

A security camera captured the moment Vasin Lueangcham was stabbed repeatedly by one of the attackers as his accomplice waited on a getaway motorcycle. Vasin was defending himself until the suspect plunged the knife into Vasin’s throat. He collapsed as the attacker escaped with Vasin’s phone.

The incident took place at about 10pm in Soi Sukhonthasawat 27. Footage of the attack has gone viral on social media due to its shocking brutality.

Bangkok police chief Sanit Mahatavorn said Thursday after meeting with investigators that police will bring the pair to justice.

Lt. Gen. Sanit added that although the attackers made away with the victim’s iPhone, police have not ruled out other motives such as a personal vendetta.

    iPhone murder, suspect arrested

At 1.30am, on the morning of January 6, police arrested a man suspected of murdering a Bangkok student whilst robbing him of an iPhone.

Twenty-six year old Mr Kittikorn Wikaha has told investigating officers that he saw the victim, twenty-six year old Mr Wasin Luengjam, talking on his phone and decided to wait until he was least expecting it and try to rob him.

He says that he approached the student and held a knife to his neck but Mr Wasin refused to hand over the phone and so he decided to stab him. He claims that if his victim and simply ‘handed over the phone he would still be alive.’

Wikaha has been in prison eight times for violent crime and, on the most recent occasion, was released only two weeks earlier.

He said that he and his friend had no money and so decided to rob somebody. The unnamed friend has yet to be caught.

Wikaha will be charged with murder.

My missus tells me the guy who did the murder said 'if the victim hadn't resisted he wouldn't have got knifed'. Typical Thai, it's always someone else fault.

Sickening, such unrestrained violence, tragic for the victims family too, I hope they resist watching the video.
Apparently after this murderous robbery he went on to further mug two more female victims!!

The BIB must have a new policy that the offender points at himself nowadays.

My Mary tells Me that Thais are outraged at this and social media is full of Thais condemning the criminal that they believe is at fault.
Had to sit through a video Mary had on Facebook about this, a long video of the reenactment , the crowd was huge.

Court sentences two iPhone snatchers to death

The Criminal Court today sentenced two thieves to death after finding them guilty of snatching a mobile phone from a fresh university graduate and stabbing him to death.

At the hearing of the sentence today, Kittikorn Vikaha, 26, and Supatchai Chansri, 25, pleaded guilty to the robbing and stabbing of Wasin Luengchaem, a fresh graduate of Srinakharinwirot university on January 4 this year in front of 7-Eleven convenient store on Sukhontasawat 7 in Lard Prao area.

Kittikorn said he snatched the I-phone mobile phone from Wasin and stabbed him after he resisted his attempt.

Although both would plead guilty, the court didn’t commute the death sentence after both had serious criminal records.

Before robbing the fresh graduate, both had committed two robberies on the same night.

Besides they had committed eight robberies in the past few years and were just released from prison.

There was no reason to commute the death sentence, the court ruled.

Yes, it's funny how often murderers epitomise a nation's character.

Possibly you may want to go through the list of the 127 countries with a higher murder rate than Thailand and analyze their national characteristics as well.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._homicide_rate

Thailand hasnt carried out a death sentence since 2009 (2) and before that in 2003. These two are prime examples of why it should happen again.

Is that why the British media was transfixed by the Moors murderers.

iPhone killers' death sentences commuted to life

    WRITER: ONLINE REPORTERS

The Appeal Court on Tuesday sentenced two men to life in prison, reducing the Criminal Court's death penalty, for killing a man to steal his 26,000-baht iPhone in Lat Phrao district, Bangkok, early last year.

Kittikorn Wikaha, 27, of Sa Kaeo province, and Supatchai Charnsri, 26, of Uthai Thani province, were convicted and sentenced to death for the murder of Wasin Luengjaem, 26, and theft of his iPhone 6 on Sukhonthasawat Road on the night of Jan 4 last year.

The Appeal Court ruled that the two men had consistently confessed during police interrogation and their court trial, and also admitted to their crime when speaking to news reporters. That showed their repentance, which justified the commuted sentences.

Niraporn Luengjaem, the victim's mother, said she had recovered from the loss and held no more grudges. She asked the authorities to take good care of the two inmates so they could improve themselves and not repeat their crime. She would not appeal the sentences to the Supreme Court.

In May last year the Criminal Court handed them both the death sentence, reasoning they had no option but to confess because a surveillance camera had caught them in the act. The court also said it was unlikely the two men would reform their behaviour, because they had committed numerous crimes in the past. The men were charged with theft causing death, carrying a weapon in a public place, and murder to conceal a crime.

The security camera footage showed Wasin being attacked by the two men, who approached him on a motorcycle while he was on the footpath and using his phone.

Wasin was seen fighting back and Kittikorn then stabbed him in the neck, upon which the victim fell to the ground. The attackers also slit his throat before stealing his phone, but left his wallet behind. Earlier reports said Kittikorn and Supatchai committed three other crimes on the night of Jan 4 and in the early hours of Jan 5, 2017.

On Jan 4, they allegedly tried and failed to snatch a bag from a woman on Soi Sukhonthasawat 27. Eight minutes later they murdered Wasin and took his iPhone. A few hours after that the two allegedly stole another iPhone from a woman on Soi Sukhonthasawat 9.

They are also accused of later robbing another woman and making off with her phone and 5,000 baht from outside Synphaet Hospital in Kannayao district. Since the age of 13, Kittikorn had been jailed eight times previously - for trespassing, physical assault and drug abuse. He was released in December 2016, shortly before murdering Wasin.
