The 15 people who died after a bus carrying the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team collided with a semi-trailer unit include 10 players, the bus driver, two coaches, a volunteer statistician and a broadcaster.

Don't see any mention of this on TD...The above blurb states just the basic facts, but it has left the whole country in mourning for the small town and its young players and associates...In fact, the accident has touched the hearts of many people worldwide...

The tributes are pouring in as the lengthy investigation continues...

Money is also pouring in as random people have donated over 5 million dollars thus far (for those who love the crowd funding angle)...

A tragedy like this is truly heartfelt...There have been many sporting accidents over the years that have rocked the world...

But these guys were so young...

    RIP to all...

15 killed in a Canadian bus crash. No one appears to care! But because the German driver MAY have been a Muslim he gets top billing?

    Just sayin....

Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?

In 1997, a family of six was killed at the same intersection after their pick-up truck collided with another semi and burst into flames...

My home province, very sad indeed.

Condolences to the families and friends. Hockey is a huge part of small town life in the prairies so definitely a difficult time for all involved.

Identity Mix-up For Victim of Humboldt Broncos Crash:

HUMBOLDT, Sask. - One family got the worst news, the other the best.

After believing Humboldt Broncos hockey player Parker Tobin had survived the team's bus crash late last week in Saskatchewan, his family was told there had been a mistake.
    He was actually dead.

And it was Xavier Labelle, whose relatives had been mourning his death among the 15 killed on the bus, who was alive and recovering in hospital.

"That was a tough phone call," Drew Wilby, a spokesman for Saskatchewan's Ministry of Justice, said Monday in Regina.
"I don't think enough can ever be said. All I can do is offer our sincerest apologies, our sincerest condolences and sympathies, in particular to the Tobin family on the news that they would have received."

He said authorities mixed up the identities of the two 18-year-old players, partly because they had similar builds and had dyed their hair bright gold for the playoffs along with their teammates.

Tobin, a goalie, was from Stony Plain, Alta., where he was known for his voice as a previous announcer for his hometown Flyers hockey team.
Labelle is a defenceman from Saskatoon. His brother had previously posted an online tribute on the weekend about losing his best friend.

"All I can say is miracles do exist," Isaac Labelle wrote Monday on Facebook.

"My deepest condolences to the Tobin family."

The Broncos junior team was heading to Nipawin on Friday when their bus collided with a semi truck carrying peat moss at an intersection north of Tisdale, about 200 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon. RCMP confirmed that 15 had died and 14 were injured.

GoFundMe page for Humboldt Broncos bus crash victims Canada's largest at $6 million:

A GoFundMe page that has raised more than $6 million for the victims of the fatal Humboldt Broncos bus crash and their families is one of the largest GoFundMe campaigns ever, according to the company.

“It’s safe to say that the fund for the Humboldt Broncos is one of our fastest growing campaigns in history,” GoFundMe spokesperson Rachel Hollis wrote in an email to CTV News.

The campaign, started Friday night by Humboldt resident Sylvie Kellington, is the largest to date in Canada and one of the five largest globally, Hollis said.

It had raised about $6 million as of 3:45 p.m. Monday. All funds will go toward the families impacted by the crash.

Donations have so far come in from people from almost 60 countries, according to an update from Kellington.

“Thank you to everyone for your kindness and prayers, your donations, and for sharing this GoFundMe far and wide,” she wrote on the page.

On Sunday, Broncos president Kevin Garinger said the team is overwhelmed by the support.

Humboldt Broncos bus crash claims 16th victim, as athletic therapist dies in hospital:

Dayna Brons, the lone woman aboard the Humboldt Broncos' team bus when it collided with a transport truck on April 6, has died.

Family and friends had been waiting anxiously, hoping the 24-year-old athletic therapist would pull through after she suffered serious head trauma, relative Dale Brons told The Canadian Press on Tuesday.

At that time, he said she had undergone two surgeries, and was on a breathing apparatus.

However, on Wednesday afternoon, her family confirmed in a statement that she had died peacefully.

"She was surrounded by those she loved and those who loved her," the statement said. "Dayna will be forever remembered for her joyful smile, and her passion and love of sport."
