Thread: Leonard Cohen

I "discovered" his music late. I feel a lot of his music comes from his Jewish roots. Many haunting lyrics as if his life was blighted by a lot of tragic Jewish history. It also appears that he possessed a sort of deep sadness, that surfaces in those lyrics.
Either that or I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I'm sure somebody will be along shortly to inform me.

^A lot of his music is mixed with religion, sex, and spirituality..
He spent many years in a Zen monastery where he wrote songs as well. You can read more about the history of Hallelujah and other songs.
