What did you last buy on Ebay?

Jesse James picture bought on eBay for £7 turns out to be worth £2,000,000

A collector may have hit the jackpot after a picture he bought for £7 was valued at being worth £2million. The picture shows infamous Wild West outlaw Jesse James and has been verified as being genuine by forensics experts.

Justin Whiting, 45, bought the picture last July and tracked down Will Dunniway, a 19th century photography to check the authenticity. Justin, from Spalding, Lincolnshire, said: ‘Anything is possible on eBay so I kept buying the odd photograph for a few quid, like other people would buy a lottery ticket. ‘I noticed the picture for sale – it was $10. It was a bit blurry on the site but when I got it, it was a lot clearer.

‘I thought to myself “Gee wizz, this could be a real photo”. I’ve been obsessed with American outlaws for years and read lots of books and study their faces. ‘The picture was identical to the one in my book, except it was full length.. All my friends said it was the same but I knew I needed to contact experts.

‘I didn’t dare to believe they would say it was genuine and worth at least two million.’ Mr Dunniway confirmed the photograph was a genuine portrait of bank robber Jesse taken when the baby-faced outlaw was just 14. His report said: ‘The age of this image was about 1861-2 and is correct in every way to this period.

‘When it is compared to the much used comparison image I believe it was taken on the same day by the same photographer. ‘It is very evident by the face, hair cut, jacket, shirt and tie that this is the same image of Jesse James at 14 years old. One of the originals.’

Justin then sent the 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches Victorian tintype photograph to Los Angeles forensic expert Kent Gibson who has verified evidence for the FBI. Mr Gibson confirmed the image was authentic and said: ‘All power to Justin. An authentic photograph of outlaw Billy the Kid sold for $5million in 2015 so the sky’s the limit'.

So why would someone buy training shoes from America and have them shipped to Thailand when you can buy them off the shelves here?.

I'm bidding on a vintage 1980s Orient Sea King dive watch. Somebody in Bangkok must have a shed full of new old stock watches (or heaps of leftover parts to assemble "Frankenstein" watches). He or she always has them up for auction.

    pues, estamos aqui

^Go to Chrono24 and see what the model you have and from that year are going for. You might be surprised, there's a big market for vintage watches these days and some models are worth big bucks.

New Omegas are not cheap, so I imagine that vintage Omegas in good nick will go for plenty.

Think the last thing I got were few of those fidget spinner things for the kids.

Thank goodness they weren't a passing craze/fad. Money well spent.

    Fleabay has had its day.

Their monopoly with PayPal dominated the market for a decade.

You could make a decent income buying and selling at the start before everyone had a smartphone .

I fell for the "too good to be true" on a cheap phone cover. Surprise surprise, the fit is shit, and the cooling vents are in the wrong place. That'll learn me.

A Windows 10 Pro licence key for a few dollars.

An upgrade, all I really wanted was the BitLocker functionality for a travel laptop. Worth it for a few bucks.

Not really ebay but I went out to buy a hard disk docking station this morning and came back with 65" Sony 4K TV and a big bag of samboosas.

Snap... that almost happened to me (same size and model of TV) shopping for floor mats and furniture at the weekend.

Strangely it was me kids who were the voice of reason and talked me out of it... little brats!

That's the beauty of on line shopping.
    No impulse buys
    No parking/travel costs
