Got up in the morning and told myself that I was now a nonsmoker.

Doesn't help working outside today in 28oC, used to temperatures just above freezing and wet here.

Nearly keeled over before, so had a break and threw a banana and half a pint of water down my neck, abnormal service is now resumed.

What I need right now is a week on the beach in the surf, only two more weeks to go!!!

No more sneeking of for a cigarette so the kids carn't see my filthy habit.

I don't smoke, but have friends who do. One friend said that he knew that "each puff he takes is killing him", but he still can't stop. It's a tough battle. My grandpa was a smoker and my dad was too, but it was before I was born. Every time my grandpa visited our home, the house smelled of cigarettes, especially the toilet. He didn't smoke inside the house but the smell stuck to his skin & clothes.

You have to drop the 'we'll see how it goes' stuff.
You have to firmly tell yourself that see how it goes is neither here nor there as it's a done deal already. You have already given up. That's the hard part over.

^Fucking straight. An old friend of mine just been diagnosed with lung and brain cancer in his late 50's. Has been a heavy smoker (non-drinker) most of his adult life.. It's too late for him now, just quit the damn things asap.

Seriously this past couple of decades/years I've hammered the booze and cigs and I'm starting to feel it.
Chest pains, sometimes some numbness in a finger tips, the turning point is coughing up pints of mucus for a week.
Gotta listen to the body, hardly any coughing up today and I'm still a non smoker

Visited a shop where I would have normally bought cigs twice now.

Spent £10/a pack off cigs on a new cd, Spend two hours a day in the car so might as well have something of my choice to listen too.
Plus it takes away any craving for a cigarette., taking me back to a carefree time in my life when I didn't smoke and have to work at fitness.

Within 24 hours my energy levels feel double and I'm less lethargic.
Possibly the cigarettes were blocking the oxygen to my body and brain. So that supposed feeling of relaxation is actually oxygen deprivation.
