Yes, if you want it to be tough then it becomes tough.
A failure to quit smoking then becomes a lesser failure since after all it is difficult/tough, right?

My advice as a smoker for 50 years, the last 30 of them on two-packs-a-day, who "tried" to quit so many times that I can't count them, is to not fool yourself into quitting if you don't really want it.
Quit smoking was shit easy for me when I got 100% motivated to do it, no need to "try" as I did so many times before. I just did it.
The ugly gunk was my motivation and the understanding that my life was in danger if I continued smoke.

I don't think there's anyone who use to smoke who doesn't still automatically reach for one (that isn't there) or at least think about having one every now and again. There's always trigger points, drunk and shooting pool or with coffee and port after a nice meal are just 2 of many for me.

I agree. It often takes until you really hit rock bottom. Waking up and coughing so much I vomited was my turning point.

That must be at least 20 people on this thread now who quit solely after reading this book.

    Including me.

I've got the book but never actually got around to reading it.

Probably picked it up and started it about six times though.

I wouldn`t say solely after reading it. The book did, however, give me tools that did not only help me give up - but more importantly, helped me to keep on giving up - which is the hard part.

Bought the book in hard copy in the UK when I decided I needed to quit, quite a few years ago now. Have since lent it to a few friends who all managed to similarly stop smoking.. There are a few books out there that can change your life, Allen Carr's legacy tome certainly stands up there.

Yeah, I had mine copied at MBK and lent it out until one time it didn't come back.

What a fantastic legacy Allen Carr left. What a great gift.
