Thread: How many visa exempt stamps can I have?

Mulling a trip to BKK for the next long weekend, I have 5 stamps from 2017 and non yet for 2018. Is there such I thing as having to many stamps? I only stay for a few days to 2 weeks at the most each trip.

There is no official limit for air borders, people report that after having 6 of them in their passport they are often pulled aside and told to get a visa for the next time.

That is for air borders.


Land borders are limited to twice per calendar year.


It's why some criminals working here illegally need to alter between land and air borders when doing border runs.

You'll be fine. Bring 20k baht cash with you, hotel booking etc, if possible.

Their main concern used to be people working here with no visa and doing visa runs. But that would be months inside Thailand and short trips away.

If you're doing it the other way round, you'll be fine. I think I have about 8 in the last year and I've never been queried.

Still is.

It's why along the Southern borders even people with multi-entry visas based on marriage can't do repeated In/Outs, as that's how some criminals breaking labour laws get by visa wise, while evading tax and breaking labour laws. So they need to switch between land and air.


People have reported that the immigration computer system highlights when someone has 6 VE's in a year, and that's when some people get talked to about what's going on.

As they're only concerned with people working here illegally without work permits and evading tax, having hotel bookings, 20k cash would be more than enough should anybody pull you across for a chat, wouldn't have any problems with your situation of living and working in Burma and holidaying here.
