Don't ask anyone to pull your finger if street food doesn't agree with you.

Yep, they're not up to Hendon Council Ordinance directive #452/1 here, generally speaking.
But I don't think a registered letter of complaint would get you anywhere...

Disagree. Not everyone who rents a bike here on holiday ends up in the hospital, that's silly. Conditions here are hazardous, but caution and commons sense prevails. How much you wanna bet that the majority of farangs who crash bikes have had too much to drink?

I had zero experience riding motorcycles before coming to Thailand. Rented step thrus on my first 2 trips here as a tourist, never had a problem.

When I moved here for good I bought a Phantom, which I've driven all over the place, including some long cross country trips. Learned by doing - riding is the only way to see Thailand IMO. Just be super-fricken careful.

Can recommend the no-like no-pay place next to the red car, bit pricey but tasty, large portions and relatively clean kitchen.
Thai friend of mine got a violent case of food poisoning from ordering somtum at Jomtien beach.

She eats street food every day and this was only the second time she has had food poisoning for as long as she can remember.

Cant say I was impressed with Jomtien.

I remember I showed a friend how to flatten a coin on the soi 2 railway tracks and he did, and showed the coin to Thais wherever he went, who gave him funny looks.

    I'd add another one:

DO NOT get major surgery done here; if they f*ck it up, you're screwed.

Why does there appear to be a fixation over here regarding the size of your motorbike? Two of my friends' ego's are pretty fukin shattered cos their 900 whatevers shattered their spinal cords.

^^ So true, it is not size that matters it is how you use it.

So I'm told, but most girls prefer mine to be bigger than smaller, and I like a bike that is comfortable, as I'm 187 cm, that means something like a 125 Honda just about does it.

    I've heard the same --- 60 baht, not 2000.

I'd add to the list only use your feet for walking, and that's it. I once tickled my g/f with my feet, forgetting what the Thais think of such behaviour. She was not happy.

DO NOT pat monks on the top of their head with your foot.

(Something that I was in the habit of doing back in the UK with the local vicar, but apparently it's a bit of a no-no over here).
