in the west: the rich get richer (with money/skills) and those not rich have the opportunity to get richer by getting an education/upping their skills.

in china: hundreds of millions of people have been brought into the middle class in the last couple decades.

in thailand, since i first came as a MUIC exchange student in 1990, i've seen the standard of living increase every decade for thais and the the gdp (per capita) has trippled the last 20-30 years.

in "shithole countries" they're still trying to get their shit together (half joking).
