    Great stuff

Any link to what lines are open by Songkhran
Last time I was in BKK huge works up Pahonythin

It used to be Mochit to Bearing on Suk line

Will any of these new lines have dry level interchange to Airport links ?

Considering what a white Elephant Makkassan Airport link is , I use it becuase I know BKK and can get to Nan CHart short stroll to canal but what a wasted op.If had a seemless interchange to the adjacent MRT. There is now a bridge but still hopeless. No proper sagfe taxi rank

    No taxis there also !!!
V few of the downtown checkins allowwed basically thai internal last time I looked, yet at KL easy

The MRT/ARL interchange is pointless, those heading to the airport don't wanna haul their luggage all that way. That was a result of the childish different rail companies SRT & MRTA deliberately putting them far apart so they can't use eachothers lines easily. Now they have zero choice but to attempt an interchange. It's crap.

These are taken from the full size map of all SRT/BTS/MRT future lines.

Future proposals will see Makkasan a bigger interchange hub with several lines passing through:

Then the Green Line will split after Udom Suk to the airport. The physical infrastructure for the junction was in place when it was built, so was always planned.

West of Phaya Thai, the Airport Line will link will continue and swing northwards

To Don Muang, to have a seamless link between the two.

Don Muang will be a huge station on two levels, one for through trains and I assume the other for the Airport link terminus

Pat, you should take a ride down Ramkhamhaeng now....tons of stuff going up from the intersection of Rama 9 to Minburi.

I'm honestly considering moving due to the traffic, it's stupendously bad.

I will next month for some photos, didn't see much around SAT/Ram 24 last week, but was only there for 1hr.

This is slightly different one to above but can be saved and zoomed into

    Another similar one here

This one is a bit vague but fits into Google Maps, gives ambitious completion dates

Does anyone know the story about this place? We passed it a few weeks ago in a taxi on the way out of Bangkok. Looks like it would be fun to walk around for a look. These pics I got from google maps this spot was near the red pin.

Living here in DM this is the part that seems silly. The big station will run from opposite the old domestic terminal and end just about the car park before terminal 2. There is really no way to link the stations to either of DM's main terminals. For the life of me I cant figure it out. The damn station ends about 300 meters short of where it should have been placed. Anybody else notice this?

^and how many entrances at ground level are needed? Bit pointless but locals will use it l suppose.

A skywalk across to the terminals is a big inconevience unless they are planning on putting travelators or trolleys there.

Maybe there will be a huge wide retail skybridge across into the terminal itself, with several ticket offices and machines. Can't see that happening as they woulda started it already.

yep expect the "bung' was short" or there'll be a tuktuk mafia to ferry hot tired newcomers aroundthe overpass.

Arrange brewery piss up couldn't they

Into a well known phrase or saying

Still be nice views of the rotting 1998 columns or the toll they reneged on paying the foreign investors, the land of smirks same as it ever was and new terminal for mainline not properly connected to Morchit
    nor Makkasan to MRT etc

All examples of no or piss poor planning

Rough idea of how they think Don Muang might look. Article l read says all passenger trains will pass through here while the existing SRT lines below will be freight only.

Odd because the new tracks are all standard gauge while the current SRT lines are narrow. Obviously won't be sharing platforms

no probs, few elastic bands , plastic bags on the wheels , banana leaves they'll sort it out when the train approaches.

Tragic the online ticketing still not really functional. Not sure really ready for high speed trains with slow speed brains.

In China they'd have the high speed righ into the airport or Munich /Dusseldorf, must have taken advice from US or Uk where the private transport/chauffeur limo planners have never travelled in a wheelchair or pushed buggys in and out of lifts etc

Never has a city so polluted so clogged needed a user friendly system even if ot just takes the extra demand, to be fair they are trying but I foresee no decrease in rush hour jams.

Don Muang or Swampy to the off ramp Suk under an hour , last 500m to my hotel in Soi 13 up to an hour, If I have min bags I use Airport link /cab/walk to Klong San Seab one hop to Nan chart then tuk tuk / walk usually 1 hr baggage clain to hotel bar as opposed to 2 hrs door to door in a cab

Not vital for me as I'm on vacation but for those who wanna do business in one day !!!

I guess one sure fire way to get the middle class single car owners out is tax/fine/HOV lanes for only multi occupants taxi bus.Deter schoolkids from BTS via only adult fares , kids are not in a hurry for work school and could walk baht bus.

lan for electric only zero emission by 2030, Electric buses in dedicated lanes, More Klong transport

Bike lanes with free lockable bikes , Thye have to have a physical concrete barrer and no motorcycles allowed,of course corrupt enfrceent and planning contracts means i'll have sunk into the swamp prior to solving the grid lock

Also Move all ministries out of the capital, not to Laksi but Hat Yai Kon Kaen or other regions that need employment
