    The Wall

Today is a special day in Germany. Though it is not as much talked about as it should be IMO.

Today is as long after the Wall came down as it was standing. To me it shows that the feeling of time is really relative. In my life the wall was standing practically forever. Much of my whole life. While the time after it coming down feels like very short.

I remember the wall as I had a German gf at the time.

Rode my bike from the north of Germany to Berlin.
The border guards almost didn't let me cross because I didn't have the ownership papers for my bike.

The 'other' side was relatively austire from the snapshot I saw.

I liked Berlin, certainly one of the places in Europe I felt I'd enjoy living in.

Growing up I recall a few of those moments in history that stay with you. One of which was the media attention Ronald Reagan recived for saying something like, " mr. Gorbachev tear down this wall."
He also had a hand in replacing all the air traffic controllers in the US after they went on strike and as far as I recall he was the first to coin the phrase " trickle down economics."

They say he was a great actor. Funny I don't recall ever seeing him in any movies.

I'm glad your wall came down uniting Germany once again. I do recall the hordes people tearing it down dancing and climbing on it at the time. It truely was world news.

1989. What an astounding year that was. Revolution after revolution across Europe. It genuinely felt that the world was about to change for the better. Inevitably, of course, it didn't.

1989 was one of my favourite years mostly because of the explosion of a new generation of music.

Remember chatting to a couple of German Fraulien students the night it came down whilst djing at a soul house party.

Bits of the wall were being sold as souvenirs.

They even had a checkpoint Charlie on the now closed Grenada studio's tour.

I remember that, going from Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes house down Coronation Street in a double-decker bus while being shouted at by an East German border guard. Factor in a couple of pills from the night before in Rockworld and it could be the trip of a lifetime

Back in 1963 I was in the East Berlin attending a conference on Social and Bilateral relations between socialist and communist countries.... especially the ones belonging to a non-aligned movement. The sole purpose of that conference was to peruse certain non-aligned countries to join the communist block.

One night after declining to take a ride with a buddy from United Soviet Republics, I was asked for documents by a guard who seemed quite confrontational. For some reason I didn't have the paperwork with me even though we were lectured by Brezhnev himself about safety in East Berlin. The guard naturally though I was an American spy and shot me in the leg.

After misunderstanding was cleared at the nearby hospital, we went for a night of drinking and remained friends to this day.

That's stupid coming from the confessed drug user making unfounded allegations based on The Rat's fantasies.

The Berlin Wall has now been gone one day longer than the 10,315 days it stood

West Berliners wave to friends and family across the Berlin Wall, September 16, 1961.

West Berliners hold a vigil atop the Berlin Wall in front of the Brandenburg Gate, November 10, 1989.

East and West Berliners meet at Potsdamer Platz after the Berlin Wall was torn down to make way for a new
    border crossing, November 12, 1989.

An East German border soldier looks at a man hammering a section of the Berlin Wall near Checkpoint Charlie, June 1990.

A big section of the Berlin Wall is lifted by a crane as East Germany starts to dismantle the wall near the Brandenburg Gate
in East Berlin, February 20, 1990.

Stretching along remnants of the Berlin Wall, the Topography of Terror open air museum includes access to the interrogation
chambers in the remains of the Nazis' SS headquarters.

Trump's having the bits of the wall re-assembled along bits of the Mexican border and he's making the bitcoiners pay in a bigly big way .
