I’ve always been mystified that the people of South Carolina, a historically racist lot, would vote for someone so, hmm, shall I say, exotic. (Bobby Jindal in Louisiana, too.) I guess she is so conservative she passes the test with SC Republicans.

Nikki Haley’s politics are not to my liking, but I do appreciate she is in a position of power in spite of her background.

I did not say I appreciate what she is doing. I appreciate she is a brown woman, from a Sikh family in South Carolina was elected to be governor. If you don’t understand US regional politics, perhaps you wouldn’t know what I meant.

Similarly, I didn’t like Margret Thatcher’s politics but was proud a woman was elected PM in the UK.

For Princess Ray...My problem with Nikki Haley is not that she is a brown Sikh woman. That towelhead post I made above was totally sarcastic. As misskit mentions above, in her stint as Gov. of SC she was most likely supported by many who use the term towelhead, raghead, etc., who are not being sarcastic.

The way I see it, she is at the UN to represent US interests. Watch her at AIPAC in the video below and see if you can figure out why I have a problem with her. This Israel first attitude of hers most likely would explain the political support she received from South Carolinians...There's this CBS headline as well
