10 days is a bit long for Vientiane. Consider some excursions - Vang Vieng, for example.

One night walk along the riverfront to spy things you can get in the south for 1/3rd the price. Still cheep by any standards. I love haggling with the girls, and still do. Love and haggle, Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.

^I agree with the others, 10 days are too much for Vientiane. After Buddha Park, Patuxay monument, riverside, temples - what else is there? Try to consider Luang Prabang or VV. Enjoy your vacay. Cheers & happy holidays!

Bor... things are going well... somehow got into selling fishing lures, seems to be the most profitable of my small businesses (dad's suggestion).

English cafe is going well... not focused so much on teaching kids, more on adults.

Yes a balloon ride in Vang Vieng is worth the 95usd as they will pick you up at your hotel and drop you off in time for brunch. That is if you live through the ordeal. I've yet to post up our landing as I just now have time to play with the footage but looking back we were cutting it close to the 50htz 220 v power lines on the landing. But yes I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
