Friday night, anyone up for a beer?
Quite short notice for Topper....
He's in BKK so I didn't expect him to arrive.
A spot of dinner at 18.00 at the Siam Corner - best restaurant in CR, a stroll around the night market and pick up a few prezzies for Aus.
Then it's drinking and carousing until whenever.
airport by 08.30 tomorrow and we're off.
It was just a passing thought.
Who are you flying with into Oz?
What City?
Return Cost?
Just asking to look at options as we fly Thai ex BNE into BKK
Thanks if you can.
I'm giving Philipinne a go on this trip for the first time. BKK - Manilla - Darwin.
From reports on here it could be shit but I just got confirmation that I've got upgrades to Business so it should be OK.
Come back with Shitstar AKA Jetstar which I've used for years and hate but there's no real choice to and from Darwin.
I can't remember the costs exactly, off hand, but I'll get back to you.
^ Thanks
BTW, I'd have a beer with you if I was in your neck of the woods. :friday:
Have fun and safe travels.
Was just going to ask if you knew Crazy Joe.
Just googled the crazy fvcker and saw that he died last year.
Passing of Joseph Meola
RIP Joe. You were a legend mate.
Would have if I was in town and read this in time. :)
Safe trip mate.
Well that was interesting.
The BKK - Manila leg was good. A 777 with wifi, good food and fine wines, fully reclinable seats.
Manila was absolute chaos but I finally made it to the lounge which wasn't too bad.
Got called to board and walked right on to the next flight and things changed.
it was a 320. The seats were crap. Very little adjustment. The in flight entertainment was very poorly stocked IPads and the food was grim. In fact I sent all the food back.
So, IMHO they're OK if you get the right type of plane.
Do it again.
Maybe.
What was that great little app someone put up. It was like momondo or skyscanner but it’s just for Aussie flights?
Glad you made it safely to Aus, CJ. When I used PAL, it was MNL-BKK-MNL and in both trips, the planes were larger - I was a bit surprised at that. It was a 3-4-3 seating; I expected an A-320 with 3-3 seating only. I was in economy but the seats had their own TV screens at the back.
Since you used PAL, you must've landed in NAIA-2. Last time I was there it was so hot & aircons were not functioning, which was also the gripe of MrMister in the other thread. NAIA-3 isn't too bad, but it's used by Air Asia & Cebu Pacific.
I would've thought that PAL would've used a bigger plane for the longer MNL- Aus flight.
