F*** the PC Brigade cancelled Christmas!

    AUSTRALIA:- Tasmania

Service Tasmania staff were told this week not to recognise Christmas in their offices in any way, and were
forced to remove decorations and told not to wear anything festive.

Then, sanity prevailed (my words) ... An order to cancel Christmas at Tasmania's public service has been reversed by the State
    Government after a public outcry.

It is unclear why the order was made but the tinsel is going back up after a subsequent memo giving the all-clear to decorate offices.

    Balance of the story here

My thoughts? - Multi-Cultural doesn't mean turning your back on your own Culture.

People genuinely annoyed by this would do well not to use stupid wording about the thing they're unhappy about. But admittedly 'staff told to take down decorations then told they can put them up again' would, quite rightly, be of interest to nobody.

You must remember Tasmanian's have two heads.

They get utterly confused at times.

What!? Service Tasmania have cancelled a festival celebrating the birth of a white-washed Middle Eastern man that’s held on a date he wasn’t actually born on and derived from pagan culture and festivities that Christianity actively sort to suppress and oppress??

I’m outraged! Outraged Daily Mail stylez!

Doesn't sound like the "PC Brigade" but one miserable management grump who's been made to look a bit of a twat and probably won't think of doing it again now.

State Government reverses decorations ban at Service Tasmania

HE may be struggling in the polls but the Premier has saved Christmas.

Will Hodgman has reversed a management decision that banned Christmas decorations in Service Tasmania shopfronts.
Staff were told to take down the tinsel, remove festive clothing and even stop wishing callers a “Merry Christmas”.
The Premier says he has no idea who made the controversial order, or why, but reversed it as soon as he became aware of it on Thursday.
“There’s no government policy to ban Christmas decorations,” Mr Hodgman said.
“I’m not aware of where the directive came from but, as soon as I became aware of it, I was happy to see it overturned.”
Several Service Tasmania customers and staff reported decorations being removed and all references to Christmas banned.
Mr Hodgman said it was likely someone had gone too far in not wanting to offend non-believers.
“Perhaps that would have been a well-intentioned notion,” he said. “But I think we should just celebrate Christmas wherever we can and allow people to do that freely, including in Service Tasmania outlets.”
The decorations were going back up on Friday after the Premier’s intervention, a move welcomed by church leaders.
“You cannot obliterate a centuries-old tradition,” the Catholic Archdiocese’s Vicar General Father Michael Tate said.
“I will certainly be wishing the Premier a Merry Christmas, even if it is through the [Service Tasmania] call centre.”
Anglican Dean of Hobart Richard Humphrey agreed.
“At the Cathedral, we’re seeking to make Christmas great again and part of that is about being able to celebrate it,” he said.
“To try to stop, even at a community level, people wishing each other greetings of the season, peace and joy seems a very strange thing.”

Reverend Humphrey said there was no harm in letting other cultures know about Christmas. “We can be a little oversensitive,” he said.
“I’ve never been offended by someone wishing me something that I may not have believed in or had anyone react badly to me saying ‘God bless’.”
Richmond Christmas products retailer Paul Ackerley, of Lafayette On Bridge, said several government and council employees had bought decorations from his store.

Judging by the bloody Christmas decorations, the ear-jangling Christmas music and the endless succession of Christmas events being planned across the Gulf, I don't think so. (Yemen and Saudi excluded of course).

In fact years ago they would bristle at the idea, now they are full on into the commercialism of it all.

They have no problem with Jesus as he is a prophet in the Quran. They just object to his parentage....

I am on Tasmania ATM and it is cold enough to believe it is proper crimbo here.

Time to take Christmas back from the Christians I say.

Christmas is all about santa, presents, reindeer, holly, mistletoe, yule logs, mince pies, pudding, turkey, stuffing, whisky, eating too much, bursting at the end on a waffer thin after eight.

It has got nothing to do with Jesus, wandering stars, stables and wisemen who crashed the solstice party sometime after the fact.

Once Jesus has been expunged there will be no reason to ban Christmas and we can force Muslim immigrants to celebrate it too with a politically clear conscience (under threat of jail and beatings if they try and wriggle out of it with some whiny bleaty religious bullshit).

I think in a way, this has already been done.

And...do muslim countries do the same? Of course not.

^It has only been done by casual omission up until now.

I intend to make it official!

Teh Babby Jesus is hereby cancelled due to lack of interest!!

The true meaning of Christmas is wanton consumerism and taking unabashed pride in over-indulgence and gluttony.

    Merry Christmas!!

Yeah. Started a new knitting club in the Cheshire Inn. Sitting in the corner. Care to join in? That's if you're still sober.

Tasmania has briefly been haunted by a ghost: the evil everpresent PC Brigade nobody has managed to capture on film yet.
Is it friends with Rumpelstilskin or the 7 dwarves?
