What's to imagine, your life consists of turning up to work and endlessly posting on forums, returning home and posting some more. FFS even Fluke has more adventure and fun in his life, even simple Sybil probably does too.

those little mx5s have always had excellent reviews from the motoring press, they are the natural successor to the lotus elans and mg and triumph sports cars of the 70's that disappeared thanks to the management and union issues that bankrupted the companies, to say nothing of their legendary unreliability.

if i had the space to keep one, i would look for an early mx5 as a project / sunday afternoon ride.

I got to drive some of the first MX5's to hit the USA. Very nice, but kinda small but very affordable, the RX7 was the zippy one.
Back in those days I was total Porsche nuts and built up my own race car from a modified 1967 911 coupe and drove around town in an original 1963 88" 2A Land Rover.

I raced against a fellow with an early xke roadster, it was really quite beautiful, but had trouble reliably finishing any race.

Got that right, only good for short hops, ime.

I did take one longish trip in Colorado in winter. Fark! I nearly froze to death, the heater barely cleared a tiny spot on the windscreen!

But it was cute and quirky when I sold made bit of $.

After that I graduated to Toyota FJ40's, now those were real freaking tough. So tough they had to quit making them.

I can't see any wind turbines in the picture, CCC, and with those pebbles/rocks on the beach I'd say it is a bit further west of Rhyll, and somewhere you can drive onto the shore. I'd say Pensarn.

Can't remember where took the photo, went to Towyn first then to Rhyl then somewhere just past Rhyl. Rhyl really is a shithole.

Had a drive round but just cafes and shit pubs so drove back and stopped at the Barbridge Inn outside Nantwich for a late lunch. The place is just full of caravan parks, in fairness there are some nice beaches but that is the only good thing I can say about the area other than a good drive.

Is there any guidelines on how to 'break in' the car, specifically the motor?

With Bikes there was the gently gently mob (I fall loosely in that group)

And then there was the 'thrash the crap' out of it mob.

    Any manufacturer's guidelines?

It always used to be the case that a new car was to be “run in” gently for the first 1000 miles, then back to the main dealer for the first service.
They would attempt fix any squeaks, leaks and rattles at that point.

Long time since I bought anything brand new with just delivery miles on it, but I suspect the Japanese manufacturers have got that nonesense squared away now, and the first proper service starts at around 12000 miles plus?

The lsat nearly new motor I bought was a Volvo 240 estate demonstrator, so all that bollocks had been done, with a few bells and whistles thrown in at a bargain price.

Do what you want these days with new cars, none of that running it in for 500 miles crap. Pick it up and start having fun with the accelerator on the floor.
