Yes indeed.
I enjoy reading, learning, thinking, seeking to understand alternative views.
To me the delight and, if you will, honour, of being able to retire is the fact that one can finally dedicate ones time to learning and seeking to understand the wisdom of others.

There's a huge world of knowledge, experience, thought and emotion out there.

I delight in wallowing in the experiences of folk like Joshua Slocombe, Christopher Hitchens, Stephen Fry, Charles Bukowski, Charles Dickens. and so on and so on and so on.

It's called learning LT.

To be able to spend ones time swimming in the seas of thought and intellect and artistic performance is a delight, a pleasure and an obsession for me at least.

There's so much I don't know. So many books I haven't read. So many pieces of music I haven't spent time on. Time is short. There are so many things to see, read and hear.

Hitchens's razor is actually an English translation of the Latin proverb "Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur" ("What is freely asserted is freely dismissed"), which was commonly used in the 19th century.^[4][5] It takes a stronger stance than the Sagan standard ("Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence"), instead applying to even non-extraordinary claims.

With the greatest respect LT I have never voiced any admiration for your wife's talent.
Neither I nor my wife have ever met her and we know nothing of her.

Equally we don't really know anything about you, other than third hand claims and rumors and the iniquitous world of the internet.

I suppose there are the second aspects of knowledge from second hand acquaintances which, to be fair are vague at best.

Real understanding and knowledge of one an other comes only through close up, intense intellectual interaction.
That doesn't, or so it appears to me, to happen on the interweb
