"I don't believe in science," Hughes added. "I know about aerodynamics and fluid dynamics and how things move through the air, about the certain size of rocket nozzles, and thrust. But that's not science, that's just a formula. There's no difference between science and science fiction."

And thats not Science? Oh dear. Is he also a prepper?

    ^^ That’s funny.

The Bureau of Land Management, in cahoots with the scientists, are trying to keep the flat earth a secret, I tells ya!

A California man who planned to launch himself 1,800 feet high Saturday in a homemade scrap-metal rocket — in an effort to prove that Earth is flat — said he is postponing the experiment after he couldn't get permission from a federal agency to conduct it on public land.

He should try using the loophole that he's actually going to fly above the public land.

I loved that "Top Gear" video where they launched a rocket with a car attached, think it was a Robin Reliant into space.

He is soon to become aquainted with the science of one small mass in motion, colliding with a dirty fooking big mass at rest and the distribution of kinetic energy immediately after impact.

    That was kinda predictable.

Certainly a brave fellow and a decent mechanic. The world is a better place when there's some eccentric folks in it; all the conventional folks and even worse the dogmatic folks (whether they are right or not) lead for a rather sterile conversation.

I wonder if he was a religious fellow?

Maybe with some rewiring you could modify your nespresso machine to make the thread a bit less 'conventional'?

He died doing what he loved, which was trying to find a way to kill himself while believing Earth is flat. Rest in Pieces.

True, but braver than most folks on here (can't be more stupid than most folks on her, impossible...), and he certainly could have paid more attention to his re-entry/coming down/landing strategy.

Was he really in that rocket? Is this an insurance scam?

Well he managed to get the rocket off the ground...pity he wasn't quite as thorough with the landing phase.

R.I.P. to another looney... hope the flat earth society dies with you...
