If you won LOTTO would you ...

I mean a serious LOTTO, like in the West.

    Would you tell the Missus?

What would you do with the Money?

    Me? TBH ... I don't know.

If, and I say if, I didn't tell her, there would be a challenge on how to be generous, which I would want to be, without being obvious.

    Is this you ...

    or ...

    Is this you ...

    So ...

    Would you tell the Missus?

What would you do with the Money?

    What/Would/Who ...

1st: Seal the ticket and drop it in a safety deposit box.
2nd: Check that state's anonymity/disclosure rules and taxes on lottery wins.
3rd: Set up a trust or LLC to eventually claim it with.
4th: Meet w/ a financial planner and discuss investment growth, taxes, charitable gifts, etc.
5th: Start slashing and dividing the future booty into friends and family members.

All the above before telling anyone else (besides the planner/tax pro).

    Yeah,....I play Powerball sometimes.

A test, and a task, I wouldn't want to face.

Got enough money to pay the bills. Empty bucket list, there's nothing I want to do that I haven't done. To fall into a large sum of money would actually be a serious and time consuming task. Philanthropy is hard work. Anyone can give away money. How do you make sure the money is being put to it's best use?

Sorry, I'll pass, no lottery tickets for this kid.

Wife wants a million. When I ask her what she would do with it, she draws a blank. The question truly does dumbfound her.

Gosh, I thought you were in a good relationship.
Mrs Naam and I talk about it often; I buy the Kiwi lotto every week. We share our dreams, and those dreams coincide: retain enough to build a very nice house here, renovate our house in NZ, buy a house for each of my kids, put 2 mill in the bank for retirement, and start a charity school in Thailand.

David, you would find it extremely difficult to withhold the knowledge that you're rich.

    No ... you're wrong. I'm not in a good relationship ... I'm in a GREAT relationship.

BUT ... and it's an important but ...

The pressure on her, should the wider Family network discover that (we are rich), would be immense on the poor Lassie.

So, the pressure of the money on our relationship wouldn't be a major, but the pressure her extended family
might ... no, certainly would, place on her and create tensions.
She's often referred to herself as the 'meat in the sandwich' when it comes to me/her/her extended family.

I've been rich but ... apart from drinking imported beer ... didn't change at all.

The GFC changed my financial position (to the detriment), winning LOTTO would change it for the better.

    ^ Very cool.
The OP made it sound like, "do you trust your wife". I'm glad you clarified.
As for pressure...I think you should tell her, but make it clear that you, her and the twins have GOT to be very sorted before any largess.
Pre-empt her and offer her family xxxx. Then carry on living the dream.

Highly unlikely as I don't pay the £1 tax every week to be disappointed.
If i was a dreamer then I'd probably donate it to my three favourite national parks - Kempton, Haydock and Sandown

^^^^^^^ The Thai family - with all its many tendrils - already considers us rich. And, frankly, by comparison we are. When asked for "help", everybody knows money solves all problems, it is far easier to let the wife provide the "small pittance" she is willing to hand over to them.

To elaborate, it has been going on for years and it's almost to the point where they don't bother asking anymore - she has developed a particularly thick skin and a detectives capacity for getting to the truth of the matter. Thai stuff, her problem, disbursements, only with my approval. Interesting scene it has evolved, or, devolved into.

She's playing the patient long game.

I just make sure I'm worth more alive then dead

Actually, we celebrated 7 years together earlier this month.

God bless her ... she puts up with me.

Just joking, wouldn't waste a penny of it on horse racing .

Would probably live Bollingers lifestyle without the trips to Old Trafford.

Would buy Lulu a new microwave.

Throw a lavish party at the sky bar for all TD members with free Chang, Somtam and boxing gloves.

Also set up a top notch school/foundation for poor kids up north in Thailand.

Dont play any lottery, so not going to happen. The missus plays the Thai one, and she has had it drummed into her that in the highly unlikely event that she wins even that modest amount, she is to shut the f*ck up.

Family pressure would rip her apart before she claimed a satang. Big wins sound nice, but an awful lot of horror stories about those who hit the big one.
