    Deeply satisfying work.

    Lots of holiday.

I keep telling them the only way I'll leave is if they carry me out in a box.
    Really great post Arry,

I love to read stories about punters who love their lot in life.

    good on ya Arry.

    7/10.

Have a super easy gig. Report to nobody locally. Come and go as I please. Very little job satisfaction.

Great pay and bennies. Only con is being on a cell phone leash 24/7, 365.

Come November will be giving it up for a job back in CONUS that will be super busy, stressful and plenty of OT.

Will walk out the door in March 2020.

I still enjoy (mostly) my work. Running a niche engineering company servicing the O&G / Energy sector based in Thailand, but responsible for SE Asia and offshore.
The good: Pay, bonuses, not too stressful; our work force are now very experienced and make my job a lot easier. Good managers, and loyal customers also.
The bad: Don't get to travel as much as I used to.
    Overall I'd give a 8.5/10 score. Ain't complaining.

Mulling revaluation and giving it a 6.5/10 for the 8th change to assessment forms in two months! Now they want a different font and slightly smaller logo. I work with some of the brightest kids but also work with some of the most dim-witted admin toadies I have ever encountered in 10 years of teaching.

LoL, that's one reason why I was considering kicking back in Thailand and only doing online teaching.

Maybe time to build another hotel? What about a new wife??

A few new engineering projects on the go which keeps me on the ball and mind active.

A lot of risk involved but I have great partners who are willing to invest in my crazy ideas.

9 out of 10 at the moment and if the new product is accepted 10 out of 10 for sure.

Being self employed is also very rewarding personally.

How is the pie business going? Maybe I need to diversify! Actually, here in Myanmar there is real opportunity and demand for alternative schools within the new and relatively affluent middle class. A couple of Montessori schools have popped up in Mandalay and somewhere like Taungyyi has the perfect climate for a forest school.

I toyed with opening a private school in Thailand, ... and then in Laos, .... and then in Myanmar. But it seems that (according to the relevant legislation), in each of these countries, I have to allow the business to be managed/majority-owned by some dimwit local businessman/woman, who can hardly speak English and has zero knowledge about pedagogy.

Owned yes, managed no, so a sleeping partner is the way to go to succeed in this. It's relatively rare, but it does happen.

And ... managerial dimwits...pot and kettle?

I'll need to look into it again, but I think either Vietnam or Cambodia allow total ownership from foreigners.
My dream would to be open something like this, albeit on a smaller scale:https://www.irrawaddy.com/specials/a...education.html

Schools like this are the future IMO- sustainable and providing quality education at a more affordable level than the big players here in Myanmar. Also, I'm a sucker for that architecture

Or that's how I would imagine it anyway.

I bet you could attract some decent funding from some benevolent fund for projects like that, if you got the right team and ethos together. e.g.: giving rural kids access to computing.

Vietnam would be first choice over Cambodia.

Cambodia is still quite a way behind Vietnam.

    Za is still single.

If you like the PI, typhoons & earthquakes, I could make myself available, as long as you're not the jealous type & won't mind 3-somes.

Btw I like my job, 8/10.

    7/10

    +'s
Good colleagues, have your back and have a laugh
Not much management interference, left to get on with job at hand.
Good training and development opportunities, good scope for progression and sideways moves.
Prestige org to work at, working on cutting edge automotive innovations - looks great on CV should I wish to leave.
    Great hours and benefits.

    -'s
Pay is good but could earn more doing same elsewhere.
Some of the academics and scientists I work with/for can be a right pain in the fucking arse. Lot's of big ego's and silly demands.
Management, while very hands off, are utter cunts when you do have to deal with them.

Overall, I don't dread getting up to go to work in the morning and generally enjoy it while there as far as work goes...all ya can ask for really innit?

That sounds like a former gig I had, I'd keep an eye on those -'s, they can easily inflate along with the egos.
