Let the drone do the panning and not the gimble.

    I just installed Litchi.

Waypoint flying is so much smarter and easier than the DJI app.

cant wait to go out and try it...

Hey TM. Look forward to your feed back. I have been looking at it as well. Lots of good and bad on reviews.

OK , if, as a non drone owner could I critique?

The choice of soundtrack is not my choice.

I watched the first 90 secs.

The first rollover was fun ... but the 10th was just boring.

The train driver didn't appreciate being filmed and resoundingly shut his train window.

    NOPE ... not a fan

    Sorry.

Did you warch until he flew under the moving train?

Its not my choice of music either, and I didn't choose it for its cinetography.

He shows some pretty amazing flying skills.

Obviously it's not using the type of drone that JPPR2 and I fly, but I think it's impressive flying all the same.

Tiz, I had seen this vid from a friend as well. Crazy flying skills. I knew a gal with a DJI P4 in Calif that could do some stuff like that. landed it on top of the GG bridge and landed a few sailboats in the bay.

No way our Mavic can do that type of flying. Just the rollover alone is not possible. I do not know if I would have posted my face at the end because what he did was illegal. The train company could take exception. I have found some Drone flyers are like Graffitti taggers. They do it as almost as a dare to catch them.

    ND Filter

Now being retired I have some time to play in more detail with my Mavic. Today I installed #4 Filter. Set camera in Drone to 0. Set to sunny day and did a quick fly and took some still pics of my house area. Did a bit of reconnaissance to check on the river level as well. Overall pics much cleaner.

River is high but well below the levy height, no worries on flooding in my parts

    Aerial pic of my home.

    ^ I agree.....superb skills !

Must also be an absolute top-of-the-range machine, to do that.

I just turned off the soundtrack so I could concentrate on the visuals.

Looks as though I haven't spread enough reputation to give you a green JPPR.

No special rules to flying a drone that heavy? No registration ect? I'm guessing not and would assume the same for Laos. I'd hate to have some copper snatch it away for being in a no fly zone or the like. Or just pinched for some tea money if I show up with one at the wrong place and time.

Yes they did. I will register mine next week. Simple 2 forms. I did a ton of research and no insurance required unless over 2 kgs and used commercially.

Today I rode my R3 back up to the area in Lampang. I sat with the owner of the rice fields and coffee shop. Very nice guy. Firstly I I flew my drone around the area. This will be a place I frequent on my Bicycle and Motorcycle for a nice scenic view while sipping my Green Tea.

Awesome ride to the place on the moto. Had face shield up a few clicks and enjoyed some nice cool fresh air. I sat at the table and I sipped a hot milk green tea espresso style while I got my Mavic ready.

I flew around his land and was going to fly further out but wanted to do a slow fly by on the deck along the tops of the rice. I was about a foot or so off. The rice was moving around a lot from the mavic prop air which unfortunately can't be seen. I didn't move the gimbal.

Thanks Bsnub. That was 2.7k 24fps with an ND filter. I also set the controls to be less twitchy and jerky when flying. I guess in the future I will get fancy and add music.......

What does the setup you have cost in Thailand, if say, you were to buy it off Lazada?

Also, in my opinion, the footage is great, apart from the panning, which seems too quick and a little jerky. Is that the slowest you can pan using the controls and without slowing it down using editing software?

    Edit:

I just noticed Jesus Jones' post above. I assume those pans are using the gimble?

If so, have you tried using the drone alone to pan? What did you think of the difference to using the gimble?

I have seen the Mavic on Lazada for about 50kbht or so. Depends on bundle etc.

Thanks on vid. I do fly manual and not with a flight plan with way points. In the video I did not move gimbal. It was all drone panning. I do not change gimbal unless I am going to look straight down. The settings on the remote can be dialed in to eliminate the jerky flights when turning
I have adjusted for slower but need to adjust it more.

Honestly the adjustments are seemingly infinite. Just takes seat time and flights. Flys very different from my P3. Plus there are other apps besides DJI.

    Nice one.

I think, if as you say, you can fine tune the pans to a speed which matches the smoothness and serenity of the straight ahead shots you'll have it cracked.

Do you use any post-production software?

I haven't yet. I have one that allows you to do just about anything. Change contrast, brightness, crop, speed, etc but I just like to do the raw vid versus altering it.

    Cheers

This one is some old film that I took in Sydney just after I first bought the Mavic.

I used the Waypoint function in the DJI app to get much smoother panning and turns.

Having the camera on auto causes a few exposure problems as it switches directions.

I've also tested the panorama feature of Litchi.

Its not as simple as the panorama function on most smart phones though.

It just creates the photos, you still need to use software to stitch the photos into a 360*180(almost) panorama.

Obviously, the camera can't point straight up, so you end up with blackness directly above the drone, but otherwise the results are pretty good.
