Answering some of the questions above.

@ Bsnub. The Mavic does remarkably well with buildings and obstacles due its front sensors. However with any drone line of sight is best. I usually don't fly in between buildings. I fly above then and pan down with the gimbal knob.

I have flown my drone well over 2500 meters away on a few occassions. I have also flown it up over 1000 meters. Some of the Vids I shot over Koh Samed yesterday were 500 to 600 meters up.

If the Mavic loses signal or GPS connection it will do a few things depending on circumstances. It will try and reconnect. Usually hitting RTH it will come back to compass settings. If it cannot connect it will land where it is and battery conditions. If you lose it you can do a log track in remote and usually find it. There are guys online that you can send your log files and they will help. Of course of water you are SOL..your mavic is trash.

I did 3km or 4km, on the country side, so no building, maximum range is 7km but could probably be more in reality

in the city, you wouldn't fly very far because of the buildings that will stop the signal

    Thanks David,

I have some different pics from other locations I will post up this weekend. I think I finally have the Camera settings dialed in. I am looking at some ND filters for glare but I think picture taking with a drone is no different then with hand camera, Its all about lighting and angles.

Thanks Bsnub. DJi Phantom 3 was my first "Real" drone. I had some cheapies early on. I really enjoyed the P3. Little less user friendly compared to tech out there nowadays. It is bulky and fixed prop arms. Made a lot more noise then the Mavic. Likely due to weight etc.

Has nothing to do with software it is radio frequencies and the power of the signal that effects the range as well as line of sight and other obstacles.

I will ignore the obvious fact that you are trolling because JP has asked me to refrain form that in his drone threads.

Mate, all those photos seem slightly 'over-exposed' ?

    Maybe it's just me?

Works in sunset photos though, which you have a great one of?

I am playing with settings some more. I really need to get some ND filters. I have seen some pics from guys that use them and it makes a world of difference, especially when flying into the sun. If I take pics with sun to back they look good

Its funny, I never really flew a drone to take pictures until I got the Mavic. My DJI P3 I flew for video type survelliance and would check out rivers I was going to fish or areas I was going to ride my motorcycle. Now I am into the photography part of it.

Thanks for feedback. More camera play time.

I am going to fly some today I think, will snap off pics of a few areas in Nakhom Ratchasima

Is there any way to adjust the exposure on the camera. You are about 1 stop over on most of the stuff you have posted. If you find some sort of adjustment, you want to adjust the exposure or metering by (-1). Perhaps it has been adjusted by mistake.
I have never seen what there s for controls on one of those, so I am just assuming there are adjustments.

Yes there are and I can adjust exposure. I am playing with it today. Challenging part is that its not like a camera on the ground where you can change instantly.

    Pics of Nakhon Ratchasima

So I messed around with a few settings in Mavic. One thing tough is dealing with random cloud cover opening up or the bright white clouds versus the dark.

This is over behind "The Mall" where they have a proposed international school starting. This was at 210 meters up. Good place to fly.

It looks a lot better. You will never beat some of the issues, the sky is much brighter than the ground generally and getting both in good exposure is often outside of the dynamic range of most cameras. The best thing to do is to shoot for shadow detail. If you are getting a reasonable exposure in the low light areas you will usually be getting your best images. The brain understands the sky is bright and often too bright. But it doesn't like blown out ground detail.

ND filters make a masssive difference. My Osmo+ looked bobbins until I used filters.

I use virtual studio for both my drone and osmo.

First arrived at Katoomba on Saturday afternoon, but it way to windy to fly.

    Sunday morning was much calmer.
