The day has arrived...

...around four years (four happy years) since I have been to the land of smiles, but today I am on my way.

Three zanax into the day (I will take the fourth in an hour or so), my train departs the local station in 3 hours. One hour into the two hour journey, I'll take another zanax as to kick in before we reach the airport. Arriving at the airport, due to train times and wanting a direct train (KTX first class, very comfortable), I will have five hours wondering around the airport, perhaps three before I can check in (AirAsia premium flatbed service), before take off. This should give me ample time, with the help of more zanax and the start of drinking alcohol, to get into a suitable state that'll allow me to board the plane. Arriving in DM at 5am, I will need to get straight back on the zanax and beer because my flight to Phuket is 7:30am. Should be a car waiting for me at the airport (900 baht, not cheap, but easy...) to take me to Kata where I will spend 4 days doing nothing (in thunderstorms...).

Upon the morn of the 31st, I will pile into the zanax for the flight back to Bangkok where I will be hotel'd for 18 days.

I hope to catch up with some of you during this time. I'll also take some pics and add them to this thread because: Everyone loves a photothread!

Some work, some relaxing. I'm quite looking forward to it. I had 6 months in Kata beach doing a Divemaster course back in 1995 or 1996, so it'll be interesting to go back and see how things have changed.

BB, you have flight anxiety?

I met a guy once on a flight from SF to Japan. Guy was on the verge of losing his mind. Never seen a guy white knuckled before. You couldn't pry his hands off the arm rests. I talked to him a bit and said "Man, relax, you are 5 miles up going 600 mph, if an engine fails no worries the 2nd one will get us to the crash site" Fucker didn't find that funny. I switched seats with him as I told him to sit against the window so he can sleep. He finally mentally exhausted himself from stress and basically passed out.

Really miss the Korean food...Right up there as the best in Asia...Gotta love the delivery system...Just leave the litter of dishes outside yer door when you're done, and they'll be back at their leisure to pick them up...

no rain here for past 3 days but it is overcast, partly sunny, not that busy so roads are free of the thousands of mini bus's, sea is rough so take care

Air Asia is one of the very worst airlines, but at 24,000 baht return from Korea for premium flatbed with only 8 people in the cabin, 40kg luggage, etc, it is the best option
