That's the bundle I bought. Great value and all set and ready to go in US was $1250 no tax, free shipping off an Ebay licensed distributor. 52,900 baht is roughly $1600 USD at 32 bht per dollar. A bit pricey but still the best drone package out there IMHO

I bought here in Aus for the equivalent of 46,000 baht

The only dumb thing though, is the carry bag will only hold the bird and the remote control. So you have to carry the 2 spare batteries somewhere else

All these hi-end mega-pega-pixel-HD-wank drone things are a complete and utter waste of money and are for utter tossers...

...is pretty much what I though until I was at my mates house last weekend and he brought his out. So. Much. Want!

Yeah, I thought that as well.
I know the novelty will wear off, but it's a lot of fun.
Today was the first day that I haven't flown it since I bought it. It was just too windy, but that didn't stop me going outside to examine the wind about 8 times to see if it had dropped enough.

I'm working here in Sydney at the moment, so haven't had a chance to fly it anywhere really interesting yet.
I've planned a trip up into the Blue Mountains this weekend. Hopefully the weather will be kind.

They're some pretty impressive bits of tech. My mate waved his arms in a certain pattern at his and it took a selfie pic, did another pattern and it started following him when he walked away!

I'm going to have to research it more though. A mutual friend is going to bring me one back from HK where this one came from (about B50k equivalent I think) but there's no point if I can just get the same or similar here.

That's one thing that's holding me back. They aren't cheap and if there's a way to spectacularly fuck it up I'll likely find it.

Yeah they are a fun tech toy. I first bought the DJI Phantom 3 used from a friend who bought the P4. It was fun to fly up in Napa California and some lakes but it was bulky. I sold it after I saw the Mavic pro and how compact it was.

@TIZMe. I carry everything in my case. I put all props in front zip pouch. A battery in the Mavic and one on each mesh pocket on side. No problem. This is why I like the case. The charger can be carried in the car. On trips the charger goes in my backpack.

As for flying. The tech is easy. Flying in easy. Find a big field and just play with sticks. It quickly becomes easy. I fly mine and land on small table tops and sometimes hand catch.

As we seem to have here poster who purchased in different countries, does the country of purchase change the warranty offered by the manufacturer?

Do the Thai distributors add any value to the sale? Are they able to analyse and repair drones or is it back to the US?

What "consumables" are necessary, propellers, replacement batteries, .....?

How long do the batteries last (number of recharges rather than flying time.) How long does it take to recharge the drone's batteries?

Is the unit completely stand alone i.e. no internet connection required for usage. Is the required mobile phone app totally stand alone, does not require a live connection to a phone tower/internet connection

A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.

Good questions and I will answer to the best of my knowledge/research and personal experience.

There are DJI Reps in BKK and CM and the warranty is the same globally with DJI.

The advantage locally with a distributor is if they are a licensed DJI rep you can contact them directly. If you buy from Lazada, DJI has a standing warranty and you can return to Lazada. However if you file a claim, DJI may refer you to the local region business to complete the return evaluation. They do not need to go back to the US for repair.

This is tough to answer as it depends on you as a flyer. If you are a crash dummy, extra props are necessary. If you buy the bundle you get 3 batteries and 2 extra set of props. Other than that there are no extra consumables required

Average battery shelf life expectancy will depend on how you use them and manage them. They are high tech Li batteries and do have memory so you need to charge and discharge. Store batteries at about 70% if not going to be used a long time. Do not store at 100% (This directly from DJI recommendations of FAQ.)

From 10% to 100% takes about 40 minutes on average. I tend to run my batteries down to 20% and have that warning set in my remote so I can charge in about 30 minutes tops. The remote will charge in 15 to 20 minutes.

You need to connect to the App if you want to fly using all of DJI's control features. If not you can fly in wireless using a ipad or Note.

I would search this forum for detailed information to this question:

    https://forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=...isplay&fid=104

I have flown in both modes. I like using Data and my S7 Samsung phone. There are external apps like Litchi for people who want to fly not suing DJI's app. CopterSafe also sells a package. I have one upgrade from them Thats been awesome but it comes with some risks and of course you need to use common sense when all the safety limiting features are removed.

    Hope this helps

the older DIJI were stand alone remote, the newer DIJI need your phone on the remote control so it can be used as a screen control using a DIJI app, all connected locally only through a small usb cable, so no internet connection needed or 4G connection needed.

Thank you both for your responses.

Whats the going rate for a farm overflight, producing a video for the owner and repeat flights as the crop matures? In Thailand.

Yeah that's probably about right albeit 5K baht might even be high.

One thing I learned in life that as soon as you take a hobby and make it a business it is no longer fun. Did that a few times. Lesson learned.

Not to be too racist. My plan would be to land the drone back where I started. Not landing in the river or crashing into the trees.
