Has salt been given a bad name? This beloved seasoning may be healthier than we think

Great news, because I love salt!

"For more than 40 years, we've been told eating too much salt is killing us. Doctors say it's as bad for our health as smoking or not exercising, and government guidelines limit us to just under a teaspoon a day."
    ....
"Well, I'm here to tell you that all of that is wrong. As a leading cardiovascular research scientist - based at Saint Luke's Mid-America Heart Institute, Missouri - I've contributed extensively to health policy and medical literature."

So, doctors and experts say too much salt is bad for us. This guy says too little salt is bad for us. Surely they are both right.

As with most things, doesn't it alll depend on your body and what you do with it?

I used to be given salt tablets when doing long distance walks, especially if it was hot or rigorous climbs were involved. Lots of water, salty and glucose rich foods were pretty much my diet for the many years I did this.

Not required if you're sunning yourself on the porch with a cold beer....
