    Best way to transfer money

Well as you know I have just got divorced
I walked away with 2 bikes
I have been offered 320.000b off a bike dealer in roiet that I am going to accept
I don't want this much money on my person for long
Would it be possible to walk into a Thai bank and get this paid into my current account?
I don't think it's possible in roi et as they don't speek English
    Any advice would be welcome

Would they not understand if you just hand over the bank card and the cash?

A Thai bank account, yes. Not sure about a foreign bank account if you don't have a Thai bank account.

Another option would be Western Union or other such system. You could then transfer the money to yourself and pick it up at your chosen location when you get back home in the UK.

You can go to Bangkok back branch & T/T to your account.
    That the only bank willing.
    Good luck.

Your OP not entirely clear Jim. Are you talking about transferring the Thai baht to your UK current account? Do you not have a Thai savings account?

If you're planning on returning to LOS on a regular basis, it might be worth your while considering getting your own Thai savings account and using this to fund your trips here. You can also use the Thai debit card for overseas purchases, plus use it at overseas ATM'S (albeit at poor exchange rates).

    Sah wat dee crap!

    Pom tanga fak ngein nee

Or just print and take this:

    ผมต้องการฝากเงินนี้

When they say, "Mai kow jai," just jump and down like a
monkey pointing at your money bag and the vault.

    Best way to transfer money.

Online from you overseas bank account to your home-country bank account or vice versa.

    Takes only seconds.

You really don't live in Thailand do you CP. To move money overseas from a Thai bank account you need proof that the funds were brought in from overseas in the first place (at least that's my understanding and experience).

I don't want to put it in a Thai bank account as I don't think I will be returning very soon
I just wanted to put it into my current account in the UK
Straight transfer with the banks taking their commission

Go to SuperRich in Khon Kaen, change it into pounds, shove it down your underpants until you fly, and take it home with you.

There are no limits on taking out foreign currency, although you are supposed to declare amounts over USD20,000.

The only bank that will do this for you is Bangkok bank.
I always use BB as I have a Kasikorn bank account
But it is to hard to T/T from there.
So I go to Bangkok bank 15 minutes bone.

    Yep.
If one doesn't care to deal often imposing bureaucracy and unreasonable service charges that are associated with banking systems, a Western Union transfer is a good bet.

    They have locations everywhere.
    Little hassle
    No questions asked.
    Transfer in minutes.
    Nominal service fee.

What about converting it to travelers checks? Not sure whether you can do this, but we traveled all over LOS using them one time, and they were insured in case of theft or loss so not much worries about them getting nicked. Then just cash them in UK.

Not sure how good the exchange from baht to pound would be, but I know our exchange from US denominations to baht was almost always slightly better than cash (not sure why that is)

That probably won't happen. IMO the best way is to have it deposited into a Thai bank account then transfer it to your UK account.

The dealer that's buying your bikes ain't going to want to mess around with an international money transfer.

I got the impression the dealer was giving him cash, and he's just trying to sort out how to get it off his person asap. Could be wrong...

Put it into your Thai account.

When you get to the UK withdraw it using your Thai ATM card. Deposit it into your English account.

Will be slightly lower rates, with a few charges, but saves dealing with any Thai retards. Convenience at a cheap cost.

I always just deposit into my Bangkok Bank Account, then wire transfer to my Citibank US account.

Costs like 1000 baht I think from Bangkok Bank for 45k USD per transfer (or around there)

No problem at all as long as you have brought at least the same amount of money into that account from abroad over the life of the account, that you intend to wire out.

    So it's as I thought
Just get it changed to £ notes and take it home
Western union is torture if you are sending money
    So really no one knows
If I put it into my Thai account she has the details
I will try and change it in 50,000 b units and not get whored up

But you do to wire 'large' sums of cash without any taxes or penalties.

Or have I been doing it wrong and anyone can walk into a Bangkok Bank and transfer out local cash with nothing more than a passport?

    Lmao

Damn it I typed out a lengthy reply and it got all fucked up...

Anyway, you can still walk into your banks 'main branch' in BKK and to a currency exchange into Pounds or Dollar.

I sold an R1 here and did the same. I didn't have to pay tax or penalties because I had an account with the bank and could prove I had brought that cash INTO thailand over the life of the account. Reasonable rate, all at one time, cash exchange. Carried the Cash home to the states.

You can always try this, and the ex can't get ahold of it. Just a cash exchange using your thai bank to prove its actually your cash.

If it doesn't work then no loss.
