It was a truly memorable moment for both sets of supporters.

Embarrassed, ashamed, angry and full of disbelief were just a number of words used to describe England's exit, but many found comfort in the Icelandic spirit. They stole the hearts of millions around the world that summer and the North Atlantic lads celebrated in style.



Local newspaper Visir have reported a record-breaking amount of births in Iceland. nine months after that historic 2-1 victory at the European Championships.

That's right - 9 months to the day after Iceland beat England, an Icelandic hospital resident reports a "record number of epidurals in the maternity unit."

It wasn't just Icelandic fans who celebrated the victory.

England may have beaten Wales 2-1 in the group stages, but Chris Coleman's side finished above them in the group, and then beat Northern Ireland in the last 16,


Wales players proceeded to watch England embarrass themselves against the international minnows, and footage appeared on social media of the wildly celebrating Hodgson's side's demise:

It was certainly a moment to forget for England fans, but look on the bright side - many babies were born because of the defeat.
