Best 5 Star Hotel in BKK

I am going to be spending a week in Bangkok and am going to get a 5 Star for me and Mrs. Chi.

I am looking at these 4. I have stated at each of these, but it has been a few years.

    Any reviews?

    JW Marriott
    Bangkok Marriiot on Suk
    Mandarin Oriental?
    Landmark

    Any other suggestions?

I think you should stay at the Atlanta, they know how to keep the riff raff out.
The Atlanta also does not welcome undomesticated people – the sort of people who do not know how to sit on a chair or at table, who do not know how to behave, and whose appearance and manners are so disgraceful as to bring disrepute upon their own countrymen. Their presence puts other people off. These undomesticated people should stay home lest the Thais take one look at them and say, "Mother, father no teach", which is one of the most opprobrious reflections that can be made about a person in the Thai idiom.

forget that. I actually wandered into this place with the wife a few years back when we were visiting a friend that lives on Soi 2. They won't even allow a farang / Thai couple to eat there

Always liked Lebua in State tower myself.

Walking distance to Saphan Taksin, nice rooms, decent balconies. Request a HIGH room for pix.

all crap, 4 stars not 5 stars

There appear to be some decent discounts for Lebua on Booking.com

    The Atlanta Hotel, Bangkok

You have a seriously warped sense of humour to be able to recommend that God-fearing people should stay in this part of Bangkok. The Atlanta is home to vast hordes of cats and anybody who has even the mildest allergy should not enter the soi unless equipped with a mask and goggles.

Stars are unimportant and very rarely do they truly reflect the true nature of the hotel.

    There is only one IMO

    That's The Oriental.

Has a list of awards as long as your arm. An incredible history.May have been the first Hotel in Thailand? Not sure.

I've been to a cocktail party there. It was first class. They really do keep the riff-raff out.

I have not been into a room, but I have a couple of mates that stay there on a regular basis. Both of them love the place.

Know a woman who stays here when in BKK, she drools over the place.

Plus the Nahm restaurant is on site which is a real plus.
