Malthus was right then? And the explosion of cheap flights and mass tourism has ruined it for all the high brow classy "travellers".

Ironic that you criticized Jeff then in the same post produced a large pile of words with no meaning that Jeff would have been proud of.

No, that's not irony... irony is you not understanding irony when trying to say something is ironic.

Yes, anyone showing up with a skanky ho at a gathering of locals was always given a seat at the head of the table. You could see the pride in their eyes.

    Would have been about 2008.

Still no brain in your head as far as I can see. Is calling me a gay biker your best insult? Why don't you do the world a favor and just do a suicide bomb on yourself you brainless excrement?

This might only apply if one is social with Farang.

A practical solution would be not to keep Farang company.

Yesterday, I walked from Suk Soi 33 down to NANA (money exchange) ... about 30 mins stride.

At a decent clip without breaking a sweat. Passed maybe 100 + Johnny Foreigners ... maybe more then 80% didn't make eye contact, let alone pause their life as to inquire as to my health.

The determining factors were that most of them were presumably Tourists and the urban social desensitisation effect of being in a big City.

As an aside ... I was surprised by a higher number of western woman who had the attire of working in the City ... something I'd not seen before (the # of woman ... not their attire ... ).

It was, however, about 5.30 ... so knocking off time.

Small world. I was in that area yesterday afternoon. Should have worn your teakdoor t-shirt man. I would have definately made eye contact.

One of the places I've not had the joy to visit.

I'm nestled in that SE-QLD/Northern Rivers patch.

My youth was spent traveling OS and I'm a couple of decades before enjoying the luxury of being a Grey Nomad.

Socially, what is different about Darwin?

I did see one particularly handsome Westerner pass me by ... should have known who that was!

Actually I had both hands in my pockets as I had about BHT 100,000 on me from the Exchange place.

Could have done with a few cool ales ... maybe another time.
