    The Truth About Depression

Totally agree. It's almost a fashion in the UK among the youth.

My sister was on ADs in her late 30s and I remember one day while visiting her back in the UK her 17-year-old daughter happily telling me and other family members she was taking them too. Wasn't surprising come to think of it as my sister was a violant cow! Three daughters and all on ADs.

You bullied, you laughed, you lied, you lost!

Depression. Unless you've been there you really have no idea how much it can debilitate you. The guy in the vid is right in somethings but he's obviously never been there.

Fair does. But some of us didn't turn to meds. Different choices and without going to much into details, it worked for me.

They didn't work for me. But there again there's so many that to find the one that works for you can be an endless task.
My understanding was/is that AD's work(?) on a 6 week cycle. It takes about 6 weeks for AD"s to start to work(?) Without AD's you're most likely to come out of your depression cycle on its own anyway. I used to believe, and still do, that they're placebo's as even doctors don't understand how serotonin inhibitors work.

    Indeed.
The worst IMO is the secret depression.
The one where you keep it to yourself, close to the chest and unable to share.
Struggling to work your way out of it on your own.
A downward spiral, unless you get lucky.

It's the lack of understanding by those that have never experienced depression that causes people to suffer in silence. The piss take and the thought of being classed as being mental was/is an added deterrent to be open about it.

Also known as the 'Sunshine pill'. Didn't work for me also. Made me more depressed cuz I thought 'Prozac' was the one everyone was harping on about.

In my limyed experience in Asia esp muslim cultures there is a stigma to all mental illness , harping back to era of possession, djinns bad spirits, even in liberal western culture there is slow progress for something estimated to affect a quarter of women and a third of men in their lifetime.

Of course being unable to open and seek help only adds to the problem as others express better than I can.

^ Here in Ting Tong land people with mental illnesses are taken to the temple and the monks will literally beat the bad spirits out of the patient.
When I first came here I went to the docs to get some meds. The doctor gave me a prescription but said to the wife, sarcastically laughing, 'why didn't you just take him to the temple?' I never took another AD after that visit.

the ozies dont call poms wingers for nothing, the bloke in the vid was describing winging, not a nervous breakdown, not sure what i had, to embarrassed to tell anyone, ie no winging , and totally withdrawn, no quackers or shrinks, and came out of it a stronger personality. i never get depressed and rarely get bored.... thankfully.

Depression seems to run in our family, Mum was depressed, my younger sister killed herself then her son did. I have thought about it, but knowing my luck i'd fuk that up as well.

I had to cut my brother in law down after hung himself
He was 6 foot 6 as hard as nails 33 years old and singing on the karaoke on the Sunday afternoon about 3 o clock
I found him at about 9,30 that night
    Truly heartbreaking for all concerned
    We never seen the signs

    b) One 17 yo student wearing a very short skirt without knickers.

For severe depression increase the dose of b).

Early 30s for me. Likewise had no family to turn to. Was at the bottom and had a bit of a 'Yazz' moment.

That's true. The problem is these days a bad day at work, or loosing at netball is depression. You must tell your buddies andput it on social media to fit in the comfort circle

    We all feel down
You know when you have had depression not all get out of it
I find if I keep myself busy and working I can moderate my melancholy
But I am a solitary man at heart which doesn't help
I was an auphone and spent a lot of my childhood in care
I thought I was bullet proof but when I brokedown I realised I am not
I am still up and down but not properly depressed
Life's hard for everyone and I used to turn it into violence
For me age has actually helped

Not a bad habit to cultivate from time to time.

The other side effect of depression is that you are vulnerable to be sucked into a religion, and why not if it works to get you back on your feet, and when strong enough leave the religion behind and enjoy life free from others dogma.
