Thread: Understanding Australian government speak

I've heard that Australia has slipped down the OECD competency ladder and think I may have found part of the reason.
I have just received my sons end of year high school report and thought I might need help to decipher my son's competency level.
Please see competency level explanation from school:Copied directly from school report.

The following achievement codes are also used:

A Evidence in a students work typically demonstrates a very
high level of knowledge and understanding of concepts,
facts and procedures, and application of processes.

B Evidence in a students work typically demonstrates a high
level of knowledge and understanding of concepts, facts
and procedures, and application of processes.

C Evidence in a students work typically demonstrates a
sound level of knowledge and understanding of concepts,
facts and procedures, and application of processes.

D Evidence in a students work typically demonstrates a
limited level of knowledge and understanding of concepts,
facts and procedures, and application of processes

How am I supposed to understand the difference between an A a B and a C?

I'm in the Philippines and my kids are in the best private Filipino school around - they are now in Grade 11, and I still don't even come close to understanding the grading system.
