How do you make a crust? if you are a lucky sod, who doesn't work - lives off investments or a retirement income, you can still contribute...

This was a tricky job - as the owner's father had attempted the plastering *first coat* himself, he used fiber-fuse on everything (even internal corners and sq stop) instead of paper tape. Nothing was flat/straight - everything had begun to crack... a real mess..

Smashed it out in a day (Friday) + 1 hour sanding/vacuum yesterday... came out mint.

Owner supplies the paint - I just supply the labor.

^ Can't find them mate... well, I find them (tilers, plasterers, painters) give them sub-contract work, both parties make good money (for a while) - then they get busy with their own work and I lose them...

Then back to finding more workers again...I have unlimited work, but a very limited pool of available workers.. *except for painters, as they saturate the market.
There is a boom in the construction industry here in Auckland.

Fa is a bit unique, he needs me, more than I need him - as he's been put out to pasture by other Chinese crews in favor of young, strong workers (so is always able to do my jobs for a great price)...

Tiling is the best, as there are less competent tilers, they are always in demand.
I just wish I had 2 or 3 teams of reliable tilers.. I could give them constant work.
Alas my tilers are all booked until after xmas..

I had 26 Thai plasterers back in the day - most have either been evicted as over-stayers, or got NZ PR/Citizenship, speak good English and don't need a middle-man like me to feed them work.

A couple years ago I hardly picked up my trowel... was just out quoting jobs, collecting payments, etc..
I really want to build up a good team of reliable guys before we depart to Japan. I plan to run my business remotely from there...I'm grooming my brother to take over supervising them..
