Two years ago I spent 2 months in the hospital. I was on IV antibiotics the whole time. The veins in my hands looked like a junkies because they had to change the location every 2 days. I could not exercise because they removed my replacement hip so my leg was basically dangling from my pelvis. I downloaded the entire 7 seasons of Mad Men and watched that. Hospital TV was awful and now, whenever I see ITV or Universal Channel I get panic attacks. Seriously.

Hospital is never fun. Especially for extended periods of time.

Last time I discharged myself after 2 weeks, with no ill effects.

    A month?
You could get bedsores which could be infected if they don't wash you properly after you bedpan sessions. I hope you've taken that into consideration. And given the time you're lying on your arse, piles could also develop.

    Good luck
I'm able to wash myself and get out of bed every few hours. After lunch I get a coffee and take a walk in the nearby park.

Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays I can leave the hospital and scrub up properly at home, put back some decent food, upload books to the Kindle, and ... be away from the hospital.

So the title of this thread should be 16 days on and off in a hospital, between poncing around looking at petunias and on the piss every weekend?

I read somewhere that lung abscesses can take 4-6 weeks to treat.

There's some eye candy on display in Bumrungrad. If you didn't have a cute Asian in nurse uniform wearing glasses fetish when you went in, you'd have one when you came out .

The food sucks there since they started out-sourcing, but if you've got to be in a hospital for any length of time it's not a bad place to do it.

If its just pneumonia and it is under control, they might let you get away with a hep-lock or a saline-lock. You can walk around with it, go to malls or go home and just see the doc when its time for your IV shots.
That would only be for mamby-pamby-nancyboy-willy-woofter wussies.

I had pneumonia when I was about 6yo and had to have a rubber tube stuffed up my nose to go down my throat and into my lungs in order to insert medicines. I gagged everytime and I'm still reminded of it whenever I see someone syphoning fuel out of a tank.

Then I was sent to a convalescent hospital out in the countryside where every morning at dawn all the doors and windows to the single-storied ward were opened and I was only allowed to sit on the bed in my pyjamas looking out onto a dewy pasture. Couldn't go back under the bed covers to escape the freezing winter cold either. I'm surprised I didn't catch pneumonia again.
But then again, I was a kid of the sixties. We had it tough back then.

A good few members here are getting on a bit, so we can do a fundraiser to have our own Teakdoor ward, with slow wifi, ugly nurses and awful food

It'll make everyone feel at home

You are all wimps ! I was bed bound for three years from age seven to ten. So, shut up you moaning minnies !

I read books then because I could not walk. I have no sympathy with whining little grizzlers and suggest you all get over it and act like men should. Be glad you are alive. Sympathy is the cheapest commodity of all and I don't give any to anybody.

Aged 4 I was in for 9 months because I couldn't straighten my knees (kaffers disease) but I don't recall any bedsores or piles, or God forbid, MRSA

Kaffers Disease? Bit of a racist illness, that one. Wouldn't survive in today's PC world.

Down to 3 bags of meds in the morning, 1 at night.

    CT scan this Friday.

Should note, when my gf came over last Thursday, and my temp was 40°c I declined to go to hospital. Told her I'd rather die in my bed, such is my dislike of these places.

All things considered this is pretty easy riding. I'm not in here with cancer, or all smashed up from an accident or 'balcony dive'.

Bedsores usually occur when you are immobile and have pressure points. This is why hospitals will turn a patient in their bed so that circulation is not cut off to any part of the body. Bedsores occur frequently in paralyzed individuals if they do not shift their positions. Once a bedsore appears, they are very difficult to cure.
