Cheap Night Out In Walking Street

We all know a night out in Pattaya these days can put a big hole in our wallets, but it doesn’t have to. Nobody wants to be seen as the “Cheap Charlie” for want of a better phrase, but now we don’t have to.

With tourist numbers down big time, bars and restaurants are being forced to think outside the box when it comes to discounts and promotions.

And, Im not just taking about the small beer bars and restaurants in Soi Buakow, for example. I’m talking about some of the bigger players in Walking Street too. Buy 1 get 1 free, discount cards, and cheap draft beer etc have been around for a while, and still work, but it’s some of the more creative ideas that have caught my eye recently.

The best one we came across on a recent night out was 500 baht, for as many bottled beers as you could drink in 10 minutes. The only rules were that you could only order 1 at a time, and had to finish it before you could order another.

Im not the biggest drinker out there, and managed 7, meaning just over 70 baht per bottle, and this bar was in Walking Street. I know for fact there a many of you that could easily beat that though.

So if you fancy a night out, and are worried about spending a fortune, don’t! And don’t restrict yourself to location either.

Even the offer of a great shagging night with a hot russian woman wouldn't entice me back to Pattaya.

Hardly seems cheap to me. The bar on the first floor of Nana Plaza on the left, as you entered (the Snakepit?, long since gone) used to have a far better deal. 120 bht for all the Chang you could drink, over a 2-3 hour Happy hour period. Of course, lady drinks were not included.

Is it all about getting drunk as quickly as possible and as cheaply as possible?
Get that beer down your gullet in double quick time....and be useless for the rest of the evening.
Not my idea of a night out.

Smuggle in a few empty water bottles and fill them up when the staff are busy on their phones.

Then leave 10min later with 5-6 free pints of booze.

10 fooking minutes?...What a joke...Would have to be at least an hour to even make sense...Then I might have 2 or 3 if I really wanted a beer in the first place...

Who came up with that "outside the box" rip-off?...

Yeh, that's it. It started out at 120 bht or something ridiculously cheap early on, then the prices went up (inevitably). Still a damn good deal though. Certainly at first, they had a cheaper deal on Chang than other beers- although that may well have changed.

Anyway- 500 bht for 10 minutes of vulgar swilling, what a joke. They're not so much thinking outside the box, as deserve to be put in one.

I once sat in soi Rambutree alone and sank two jugs of (original) Chang at 150 baht each on Halloween 2011. I was sat there for about 90minutes.

It devastated my brain and legs. Rational thinking went out the window because I had no urge to do a runner
