    The're ain't no Myanmar forum

on the "not working in Thailand" threads. Surely an anachronism from the days when Myanmar was less democratic than Thailand. Admins, can we get one, please? I don't know where to post my info from (perhaps excluding Malaysia) Thailand's most significant contiguous neighbor.

Thai people don't like the "Burma" very much, treat them like shit.

I still haven't seen Burma proper.(just the border towns)

Maybe some day I'll take a five star cruise along the Irrawaddy river.

Actually more interesting would be to cycle to India through Burma. I gather it might be possible nowadays.
I've met motorcyclists coming from India to Thailand through Burma.

Sounds like a lovely and leisurely journey - this route, don't bypass Bhutan. One could easily spend a long period there......sub-tropical jungles to Himalayan alpine. The cultural atmosphere is still somewhat pure of heart [hurry before it's all fucked up].

    Happy travels...!!

Thais love the Burmese for doing all the crappy low paid jobs that Thais don't want. Without the Burmese who would do all the construction work, and take the fall for unsolved murders?

Because, Miss Cherry, as it may seem unpalatable ... it's generally true.

In the same way that Bar Girls don't like Indian or 'Middle East' customers.
    Love Korean or Japanese customers.
Yes, it's race based and yes, it's a generalisation ... but broadly true.

It's not right or wrong ... it just is.

Oh ... to the PC people who find this observation hard to digest ... F - off

Just a step up from the 'Dirt Khmer'. No superiority complex at all.

    Indeed so..
If it wasn't for Kmher, Lao, Burmese, and other assorted groups there wouldn't be a "Thai" culture to be superior.

    Seen it!
Been living in the Ranong area for several years now, lots of Burma.

I had to get rid of one of the Burmese families working for me.
They were moonlighting other work while I was paying them. They weren't getting my jobs done, and were always begging for more money everytime they saw me.

My other Burmese familly is pretty good, being farang it's becoming an increasing a PITA to keep them all legal in the eyes of the law.

Thai people often get away with hiring illegals.
