Stolen from Pattaya Hotel Room
Mr Zhang Qingduan told officers that he and a group of friends had arrived in Thailand two months ago and had been enjoying an extended holiday.
On the evening of October 18 they left their room at Unixx Condominium, near Bali Hai Pier, to spend the evening at the Hollywood Night Club in Central Pattaya.
When they arrived back at the condo, around 2am, they discovered two suitcases holding 21-million baht was missing.
Officers sent investigators to the building and CCTV footage revealed a man wearing a cap, mask, jacket and backpack entering their room, using a key card, and leaving again with two large suitcases.
The police are convinced that the key-card belongs to one of the Chinese tourists because the suspect was also seen to hail a taxi outside the condo building which, they say, took him to the Hollywood Nightclub.
He told the driver he was travelling back to Bangkok that night.
He was last seen at Hollywood Nightclub and the investigation continues.
