Twenty One Million Baht Hidden in Two Suitcases Stolen from Pattaya Hotel Room

Twenty One Million Baht Hidden in Two Suitcases
    Stolen from Pattaya Hotel Room

At 3am, on the morning of October 19, six Chinese nationals appeared at Pattaya Police station to report the theft of 21-million baht in cash.

Mr Zhang Qingduan told officers that he and a group of friends had arrived in Thailand two months ago and had been enjoying an extended holiday.

On the evening of October 18 they left their room at Unixx Condominium, near Bali Hai Pier, to spend the evening at the Hollywood Night Club in Central Pattaya.

When they arrived back at the condo, around 2am, they discovered two suitcases holding 21-million baht was missing.

Officers sent investigators to the building and CCTV footage revealed a man wearing a cap, mask, jacket and backpack entering their room, using a key card, and leaving again with two large suitcases.

The police are convinced that the key-card belongs to one of the Chinese tourists because the suspect was also seen to hail a taxi outside the condo building which, they say, took him to the Hollywood Nightclub.

He told the driver he was travelling back to Bangkok that night.

He was last seen at Hollywood Nightclub and the investigation continues.

How people so stupid manage to come by so much money pretty much proves that there is an imbalance in the universe...

So no one noticed the money during airport screening. Or did they withdraw the money from an atm on arrival.

Looks like one of the boiler operators robbed the boiler room then.

Or perhaps one of the ATM scammers nicked the money and the cards....

Yeah, how to come by that much cash while on holiday?

Then there's the angle of the thief making a beeline for the place the "victims" were. Carrying two cases into a club? There must be CCTV from there, too.

    All a bit dubious.

Fecking rubbish. They are trying to claim on some insurance or to try and validate a previous theft.

If they have relieved some one of 21m they will get theirs later...

if its true the thieves cab went to the same nightclub
    could be bad journalism,
or laying the foundations to charge the victims.
Surely you cannot insure that ammount of cash, why bother reporting it ?

Woudn't other people notice if someone arrived at a night club carrying two suitcases?

Also, that's a silly amount of money to keep under your mattress.
