In light of the imminent event, there's probably a fairly good chance of a ban on drinking so that we can all mourn properly and as such, drinkers (in Thailand) might be advised to stock up.

On a related note, กูต้องได้ 100 ล้าน is a good source of (Thai-language) gossip.

Just back from.the local wholesale place, and stocked up until the end of this month at least.

I would advise anyone requiring government services (Immigration etc) toget it done asap, as well as any banking other than routine ATM/on line transactions.

Govt spokesman: PM will give no news conference today

BANGKOK, 12 October 2016 (NNT) -
Government Spokesman Lt. Gen. Sansern Kaeokamnerd has said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has cancelled his trip in Chonburi to have an audience His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn.

He confirmed there will be no news conference as rumored.

The spokesman said the PM was preparing to have an audience with His Royal Highness in case he had to give a report on the government’s work.
Gen. Prayut had assigned Deputy PM Somkid Chatusripitak to act for him in Chonburi, said the spokesman.

The PM had not been scheduled to give any news conference on Wednesday, the spokesman confirmed. He also asked the public not to pay attention to or panic over the rumors in the social media and suggested that they rely on news from official sources.

The best I know all is in order here save on the alcohol front. That had not crossed my mind but.. So off to get a couple of weeks or a months on the way home from work tomorrow. Short day. Good.

Yeah the C word I heard, and there ain't a doc in all of the land that would have the balls to declare anything or pull any plugs. And from past stories I've heard you can keep vegetables fresh for years if you keep the fridge running.

Given we're coming up to high season and the cash flow is about to start looking healthier then I'd say the Junta would rather keep Elvis on ice till Jan/Feb.
