Clown sourcing, what's it all mean

From commedia del farte to Punchinella the grotesque has always had a place.

Here we are no stranger to clowns but listeing to radio it seems a film has led to real;y menacing scare stories.

Dwarf tossing, Punch and Judy the Mummers palys but with viral social media we seem to have a new variety of terror flashers?

Is this soley an Anglo Saxon phenomena , are their clowns where you live?

I see clowns everywhere, they are in the mirror, posting on TD, have I run away to a cirque du Si lie?

Even Steven King finds it spooky

Armed police patrol at two Northern Ireland schools after 'killer clown' issues social media threat

Armed police guarded two Ballymoney schools yesterday after knife-wielding killer clowns threatened to pay a visit

Armed police guarded two Ballymoney schools yesterday after knife-wielding killer clowns threatened to pay a visit.

It came just days after a knife was brandished by a group of teenagers dressed as clowns in the town's Riverside Park.

    SHARE
'Killerclownsballymoney' posted on Instagram: "On Fridays I'll be waiting at Ballymoney High school gates at 3.55 and on Mondays it'll be Dalriada at 2.40" fuelling fear in the Co Antrim town.

In a second chilling post, the 'killer clown' warned that he would be carrying knives, forcing police to monitor the schools closely.

The "killer clown" craze appears to have been inspired by pranks in the US and has seen a string of copycat incidents across the UK. It involves people dressed as creepy clowns frightening members of the public. In the most worrying cases, the clowns have been armed with knives.

North Antrim DUP MLA Mervyn Storey said the craze is placing communities in fear.

"What may be seen as a prank by someone can end up in a serious situation and we have seen that in Ballymoney. Warnings have been issued by schools to make sure pupils and parents are vigilant," he said.
To have police outside and patrolling schools is ridiculous and will put extra, undue pressure on the PSNI. It is worrying for anyone to see such action being taken to protect the public."

UUP councillor Darryl Wilson also condemned those responsible. He said: "Crime is crime, it's the same in the virtual world as it is in the real world. Over the recent days and weeks we've seen it take a more sinister turn and it's starting to impact communities."

PSNI Assistant Chief Constable Stephen Martin has advised "anyone who may be considering posting information on social media platforms to consider what they're saying"

My two daughters screamed as 'creepy clowns' carrying machete swooped on our car

Kurtis Mulvaney managed to take this picture of the 'clowns' who approached cars in Manchester

Clowns armed with a "machete" terrorised drivers who stopped at a set of traffic lights in Manchester - even climbing on one mother's car bonnet, leaving her children screaming.

Kurtis Mulvaney (29) was driving home at around 8pm on Sunday when he stopped at the lights outside Manchester Fort shopping centre.

Two clowns emerged from bushes and began running towards the cars, sending one driver fleeing through a red light - while Kurtis caught a picture of the terrifying pair peering in through his window. He believes the weapon one was carrying was most likely fake.

The 'killer clown' craze has continued to spread across the UK, with one force dealing with 14 reports in 24 hours, after beginning in the US recently.

    Screaming

Mother-of-two Alice Slattery claims she had pulled up at the same traffic lights as Mr Mulvaney only half-an-hour earlier.

She said she had turned to check on Lily (4) and Honey (3) in the back seats when Lily began screaming.

Ms Slattery (28) said she turned back to find a clown across her car's bonnet, prompting her to beep her horn and begin driving, forcing the clown to jump off. However, as she sped away she spotted that a second clown "with something in his hand" had been lurking behind her car.

"It was like something out of a horror movie," she said. "I turned around and there was a clown lying across the bonnet. His feet were close to the driver's side wheel and he was leaning on his elbow as if he was posing, like he was showing off.

But he didn't have a normal clown mask on - it was quite a scary one. I was shocked. I didn't know whether to laugh or scream, so I beeped my horn and, luckily, the lights changed - so I drove and he jumped off.

"I felt a bit sick. I was just rushing but I was more concerned about the kids. I would have just driven through the lights if they hadn't changed.

"As I drove I away I saw another had been stood behind the car in the road. He had something in his hand, but I couldn't see what it was.

"I managed to calm the girls down by saying it was just people playing for Halloween. They are OK now, but it was all just a bit surreal.

Ms Slattery said she later saw the picture shared by Mr Mulvaney and realised it was the same two clowns.

Meanwhile, officers have been called to a string of incidents where pranksters or criminals dressed as clowns try to scare innocent bystanders.

Chief Superintendent Andy Boyd, of Thames Valley Police - whose force received 14 calls about sightings - warned it is a waste of police resources

Should I happen to be approached by one of these individuals I imagine that one of two possible avenues will be pursued.

The first and most likely is that I will heavily sully my underpants with an industrial measure of shit before embarking on an rapid but ungainly tack for the hills.

However, the second possiblity is that I introduce my forehead abruptly to the bridge of my assailant's nose, smash him with a flurry of precision punches as he falls to the floor, straddle his unconscious form and finish the fucker off with half a dozen or so blows with a half ender.

We've just had an email from the kids school on the subject.

Kids are getting scared and hurt, Halloween's just around the corner and clown outfits are the most popular sellers.

Just tried to order some for trick or treat night but half a dozen sites had sold out.

It's a frigging epidemic, even to the lush groves of Bohemia that is Bournemouth, I hope all our members there are OK and not 'dragged up into the melee"

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...police-warning

A man walking home alone in Bournemouth was grabbed and dragged along the street by an assailant wearing a clown costume. Dorset police has appealed for witnesses to the incident, which occurred at about 11pm on Friday.

In Southampton, a 13-year-old boy dressed in a clown mask sustained minor injuries after being hit by a car on Monday evening

It's an epidemic, check out this email i received yesterday...

    Dear Parents,

We have received a memo from the Police regarding a scaring tactic – people dressing as clowns in public. There has been a rumour that this has happened locally. I would like you to know that class teachers have talked to the children about it so they are not frightened if they encounter this.

Here is part of the report from Derbyshire and you may want to follow their advice if you see it happening in our locality :

“We are aware of the current trend in America of people dressing up as clowns, which has reached the UK and received some publicity in the media.
We have a received a very small number of reports relating to this phenomenon, here in Derbyshire, and we’re also aware of rumours that are circulating on social media.
While we appreciate Hallowe’en is just a short time away, scaring people – especially children and vulnerable people – in this way is completely unacceptable and could constitute an offence.
Anyone who sees any suspicious activity, or who have been intimated or upset but his behaviour, should call Derbyshire police immediately.”

    Regards

What doesn't help the situation is the rumour mill and social networking for the youth, it's only a matter of time before an horrific incident takes place.

    Meanwhile Victoria Derbyshire and BBC

Creepy clown craze: 'Nobody's laughing' - BBC News

Are they pranksters after a laugh or criminals spreading terror? The craze to dress up as a clown and spread fear appears to be gathering pace in the UK.
The unlikely phenomenon, an import from the US, has become the talk of the school playground and is keeping police on their toes.
Schools are being forced into lockdown, children are terrified and police officers are handling hundreds of claims of sightings, reports suggest.
Now, ahead of Halloween, parents, head teachers, police officers and even the clown industry, are grappling with how to calm the craze.

    ...and

Vera Baird QC, Northumbria's Police and Crime Commissioner, said the police there had handled several hundred clown sightings, of which 13 or 14 were offences.
