I was driving normally on a rural road when this prat comes out from a junction to my right on a motorcycle. I couldn't avoid him and hit the tosser up the arse dead center of front of my car.
He was wearing no helmet and he had a false right leg which had me thinking as to how he'd lost it. Quite obviously he shouldn't have been riding the motorcycle.
Luckily I had the MiL with me as my witness plus I have a dashcam.
The police turn up and start taking photo's and measuring the road. Ambulance turns up and the one legged man is carted off to hospital with a badly grazed arm. The motorcycle is then put on the back of the police pick up and taken to the cop shop. It wasn't rideable. I then go home.
1 hour of being home the insurance man comes to the house to view the car. I show him the video from the dashcam and he takes a copy. We then get called up to the cop shop. Me, my MiL and the insurance man were told to attend. We went in and the one legged man had 3 family members sitting there next to him. They start talking compensation and that continued for about an hour. I was then asked for the car book and my driving license. Out to the car I go to get them. On returning the insurance guy is finishing off showing the police my dashcam video. Things take a turn and the one legged man is sent out the room. His family were told that they, the police, wanted to fine him 400 Baht but wouldn't cuz he was so poor. The family were also told not to let him ride the motorcycle again.
As for me, I now have a car that's going to be in the repairers now for a week plus. Who's going to pay me compensation for that?
Moral of the story is, buy a Dashcam.
