    Car accident today.

I was driving normally on a rural road when this prat comes out from a junction to my right on a motorcycle. I couldn't avoid him and hit the tosser up the arse dead center of front of my car.
He was wearing no helmet and he had a false right leg which had me thinking as to how he'd lost it. Quite obviously he shouldn't have been riding the motorcycle.
Luckily I had the MiL with me as my witness plus I have a dashcam.
The police turn up and start taking photo's and measuring the road. Ambulance turns up and the one legged man is carted off to hospital with a badly grazed arm. The motorcycle is then put on the back of the police pick up and taken to the cop shop. It wasn't rideable. I then go home.
1 hour of being home the insurance man comes to the house to view the car. I show him the video from the dashcam and he takes a copy. We then get called up to the cop shop. Me, my MiL and the insurance man were told to attend. We went in and the one legged man had 3 family members sitting there next to him. They start talking compensation and that continued for about an hour. I was then asked for the car book and my driving license. Out to the car I go to get them. On returning the insurance guy is finishing off showing the police my dashcam video. Things take a turn and the one legged man is sent out the room. His family were told that they, the police, wanted to fine him 400 Baht but wouldn't cuz he was so poor. The family were also told not to let him ride the motorcycle again.
As for me, I now have a car that's going to be in the repairers now for a week plus. Who's going to pay me compensation for that?

Moral of the story is, buy a Dashcam.

It's got to be said this "dash cam" malarkey seems to be the way to go.
If only I understood how they work.

You buy a dashcam. You read the setup instructions. Fit a memory card and plug the lead, from your camera, into the cigarette lighter socket. Yer then on yer way.
If you have an accident you take out the memory card and load it into your computer.
If I can do it, so can you.

Bike rider obviously stumped for a cause of action.

Case dismissed! Costs to the defendant.

    Possibly, but I doubt it.

    Does it film continuously?

Firstly, I agree with you about the Dash-Cam ... invaluable.

But the bit about the prosthetic leg can't be universally applied.
The Thai F I L is ex-Navy, had his right leg blown off below the knee by an IED.

He rides a bike, a motorcycle, drives the Farm bike with the farming equivalent of a sidecar and has been driving his car, with slightly modified pedals for more then 30 years.

Back to the Dash-Cam ... timely reminder for me as I'll have to grab one soon for when I come back to Thailand.
Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago ...

    1. That should have been asked at the "conference".
    2. If he's so poor that the police don't impose the 400 baht fine, there's little chance of getting anything from him, even if you wanted to (which I doubt you seriously would).

I was baying for the death penalty for one legged men that ride motorcycles at the time of the accident.
Yes the guy should have got the fine of 400 Baht. Without imposing it the guy will be out riding today, I'm sure. Who will it be next time? A child?
I'm having problems with my computer at the mo but I will download the vid once I get things sorted.

Seems a dash cam a small investment for sorting accident details. Time I got one as well. Off I go today.

    Any particular brand recommendations?
