    Bloody sad

    Sad:
My dear wife has just gone off to the local Wat; apparently the 17yo nephew of our rubber cutters’ hanged himself. Currently no knowledge as to the why …

We had exactly the same thing happen in our village, My Mary tried to keep the cause from me as she doesn't want me to know anything bad about her village.
Well just chatting to two different Farang saying that I am going to the funeral of a young man who hung himself in the village but nobody knows why, they answered " Yabba"
It was part of the cause, the young lad had come off of the Yabba, went clean with his parents help, fell into depression and wrote a suicided note, saying that his twin brother was loved more by his parents than him,and he felt a failure in his life.

Parents should never outlive their kids.
    Very sad indeed.
Chin up Crepitas, you can't take the weight of these sorts of things on your shoulders.

^^^ true mate..been on my mind for hours though..obviously need a beer or three.

From what I glean from the wife's somewhat rambling explanation:

Disturbed lonely teen (16) living with grandma....no friends except on FB...
Was on FB threatening to hang himself..pics of him with rope around neck apparently...a girl says "up to you". Apparently dropped his phone tried to grab it ..fell off chair he was standing on. No idea how this info was obtained...sad indeed..

Tragic in a land capable of having nice mild ale wine grass, the recreation of the poor rural young is krathom and yabba, see littel sign of education or wish to change.

    RIP

What is also sad is the fact that the community relies on rubber income, lately too much rain to cut. Ergo family must get themselves in debt to provide wake party and funeral expenses.

Early termination among immature adolescents is a common if somewhat infrequent phenomenon in societies around the world although with the advent of increased consumerism, peer acquisition rivalry and the relentless dissemination of minutiae via the internet, it seems the more vulnerable youngsters of today feel their isolation more keenly.

Given the way Thai society exists I'm amazed more kids don't top themselves.

When I observe the degree of their daily stupidity and chronic inability to communicate meaningfully, I sometimes think oblivion is the only sensible solution.

I have been back for three months now but I think a quick trip to Penang might be in order.
