Starting Over, Age has no barrier.

Well over the last 30 or so years I have experienced a helter Skelter life travelling the world, fucking up sometimes, but sometimes scoring bulls-eyes on things I attempted.

I suppose the most important thing that you should remember is not your successes but your failures and how you can turn these things around. Experience, particularly negative is so underated and ignored and rarely nurtured.

At 57 years old I feel like a Loy Toy at 28 years old and on a mission.

To the best of my ability I will try and document my life starting over and hope that others may ignore age limitations, speed humps and kick some arse.

    Later!

    Goodonya, mate!

Sounds very positive - and may you have the best of luck.

I guess we've nearly all re-booted from one level or another at least once in our lives, so we can feel what you may be going thru.

Great stuff - get going - and don't effin' give up along the way!
I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

I have met guys that have worked in different industries over decades in fact creating standards along the way and now they cannot get any work because they are now considerd too old.

    Pisses me off big time.

If you're going to start a thread about yourself then might I suggest you be a bit more specific if you really want it to be of interest to anyone?

'A few speed bumps' ....'being creative is such a buzz' ... Sounds like the diary of a spice girl so far.

Ain't that the truth! Always been my favourite whine that so much life skill, experience and expertise is just thrown on the scrap heap..such a waste.

Methinks 'considered too old' is just a euphemism for 'you would be a threat to the arrogant younger management's knowledge and power base and will be too expensive.'
Being interviewed by 20-30 yo bimbos asking stupid inane questions and just going through the motions ......enough to make one want to dump their fucking latte over their head.

Stirring stuff. But what if you don't want to 'start over'? What if you've been there, done it, and have absolutely no human interest in going back again to repeat the same exercise, yet again. Is that not an equally valid perspective?

Cyrille seems to have the hots for me at the moment.

He fails to understand that only recently I feel like my life is starting over, new potential challenges with new potential partners.

Hey Cyrille, nothings really formalised as yet so nothing to report. Be a little patient! There's a good boy.

Anyway, regardless to Cyrile's pettiness I will try my best to document my adventure and hopefully influence others who society, and more particularly the job market have put out to pasture.

I know a few lads here who have vowed retirement but most have ventured back to their trade after that mushroom period.

I for one cannot sit still for a minute and hopefully I can remain productive until they stick me in the ground.

I'll mention Wayne as you know him, he is considered one of the best heavy lifting platform crane drivers and site foreman on this planet but it now seems he has been put out to pasture and it is killing him.

Anyway what I will be doing is somewhat the same as I did previously but with different products and with different markets.

I don't really think I'm being petty when you seem to have started a thread to tell everyone you're a great guy.

There seems to be a point in the future when you're thinking of making a bit more of an effort with it so good luck.

Obviously any claim I 'have the hots for you' just because I post on the ashes thread is ridiculous.

If that's all you need to think someone is interested in you then I suppose that partly explains the genesis of this thread.

Btw ...it's 'age IS no barrier'

How did you read that into my OP?

No fuck it. Do not answer as I do not want this thread to turn into a slanging match.

I am surrounded by guys, particularly who work in the oil and gas industry who have plenty still to offer but cannot get a start because of their age.

If my experience starting over, being good or bad, gives some people some initiative to get started then this thread is worthwhile.

And I'll see you on the ashes thread later.

No the guys name is Sandy, an Aussie who ended up selling the business after a few years.

It was the first cam insert model and was manufactured in Melbourne doing 20k per month (for 5,000 boards).

It was Nawtier's safer fin thread that got me stated with this and one of my new ideas is surfboard related.
