^ Birding, with all due respect, you live on another planet, mate...

I drove in Thailand for years, sadly, for a year or so, had to use the ring road from RamaII around to NakhonPathom, and there were accidents on that road daily. I'd say I saw, personally, at least half a dozen accidents occur on that stretch of road alone. Within 30 seconds of looping off RamaII onto the ring road, you'd have minvans and pickups swerving across 3 lanes at 160kmph missing cars by inches - it was insane... One memorable day, pissing down with rain, there were half a dozen accidents on the way (about 30 kms drive) with 3 within 500 metres. Very few if any of these accidents involved motorcycles. The aggression of the Thai drivers was the worst I've ever seen, and I've lived, like most here, in a few countries with terrible drives, including the ME.
    Cycling should be banned!!!

There's a very good reason for that.

It involves the knowledge that the other driver has a gun and isn't intelligent enough not to use it.

Birding it make me very sad that after 12,000klm you have not seen any prangs.
I have been in Thailand for 15 year & this year I have traveled 80,000klm, I got to see my first its not a good feeling, to see people suffering.

I can't do a day ride out of bkk, typically around 400-500km round trip of bkk without seeing at least one bus or truck or pick up recently overturned in a ditch.

Hate cars with the fooking low front end body style...Easy to smash the fookers into the parking blocks...

Indeed. Always for show, less practical.

....and then they're all made outta shit and prices continue to climb.
And we continue to buy them.

First trip to Thailand I was on the bus to Pattaya, which had to slow for a crowd of spectators. A paint truck had hit a car. Two very dead bodies were sitting upright in the car front seats, roof ripped off and all covered in white paint.

I would honestly say I've seen getting on for a hundred crashes.

I see that most Thai's are good and patient drivers, there are always some idiots who drive far to fast and pass when they shouldnt (some of them might be farang).

Almost no honking of horns waving of arms and yelling and screaming as happens in some other countries.

Yes Thailand has the second highest death rate on the roads but between 70 and 80% of those involve motorbikes and a fair % of those probably involve other vehicles as well. However take away the motorbikes and you take away 70%+ of road deaths.

So to get a proper perspective you either have to compare with a country with a similar motorbike density or subtract the bike deaths.

If you go out of your way to look for wreaks to take photos of you will find plenty in any country.
And the feckin somchais driving caused a big percentage of those mototrcycle accidents.

Don't forget, most motorcycles are always wrong (unless helmet cam) simply for being a motorcycle and usually a lower class person in the car driver's eyes.

Mate I've been driving here ten years and I can tell ya I've also seen absolutely zero accidents in person. I recon I'm just very very lucky.

I posted up the piks because I like them.

I've seen a few smashes after the fact .

I also consider most of the drivers to be fairly good and it's only the few retards that fook up the system.

It's too bad the Filth can't or won't shut this lot down.

It truly is a diabolical design, I recon the hire car company make some good money charging for the damage.

I must add, the little Mirage is my favorite Eco hire car. Bloody great little runner and goes like a shower of shit.

I've hired heaps of them, 17 KLM on one litre of fuel is exceptional.

I know that if i had done this damage in Perth i would of been charged top dollar to replace the complete skirt.

I had resigned myself for a nice wedge of money on returning the car to the BKK Airport.

I am ecstatic that Mrs Somchai the car inspector was thinking about Cock that morning.

I always take a ten K baht excess so i was expecting half of that to go bye bye.
