10 Year Anniversary - Help Needed

Next week is the wife's and myself anniversary of being married, oddly enough to each other.

She's already been giving me hints that she's expecting this anniversary to be special and that's she's already ordered a cake, so I'm guessing a party is being planned.

Looking online, it seems the traditional gift is tin or aluminum...something that reflected the flexibility or durability of our marriage....or a diamond, which obviously is outside of the budget.

So I've been trying to think about what tin or aluminum gift I could give my lady...I'm guessing a roll of aluminum foil with a card saying "Thanks for the 10, now get fooking cookin'" might not be the perfect gift..

Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated...

Happy Anniversary, mate...And happy that you've got what it takes to stay together...

Yesterday, I was shoppin' around and found a "ball" the size of a softball, but it was a "globe" of planet Earth...

I have the world in my hand...To whom should I offer it?...

I could give her the world...Heh...

I was originally thinking of my grandson, but the "little barstard" will tear it apart...At that age...I thought he could start learning countries...

    Then I "waxed romantic"...

    "Tripped the light fantastic"...Heh...

The idea of particular gifts for particular years strikes me as kind of western. Does she know of this tradition?

If not, you are off the hook and free to get what you would like to give her.

Call her favorite restaurant and get them to set up a table with foil and the like, A cake, flowers wrapped in foil etc etc.

    Job done.

    Oh, Happy Anniversary.

    Sorry we can't join you.

While she's not reading this, I'm guessing if we could join you, it would be cool.

    I've got it!

I'm going to get some silverware engraved for us and then go on a appetizer tasting spree at some place like Siam.

Whatever traditional gift you decide on a big bunch of flowers normally always gets brownie points. Something nice in pewter, belt, tankard?

I thought about that as well, but I don't reckon I've seen pewter here, ever. That was actually my first thought....

One of those little tin tuk-tuks...Then you could take her for a ride on the real thing...And hold hands again and everything...

    Cheers...

    @neverna - heh

@bb - I've got a globe the size of a basketball. Does that mean my world is bigger than yours? Heh..

@cssfan - I don't know if your wife knows all the equivs of the milestone years - I don't. But I do know that 25th is silver & 50th is gold. I don't know if your wife is big on gifts, but if you can't or won't give her a big gift, then do something extra nice for her. She kinda expects iy, being a milestone year.

    Cheers & congratulations!

For pewter you need a Malaysian Selangor pewter shop. Only place I can think of is top floor (1 down from the cinema) in Emporium, lot of nice kitchen stuff there also, Emporium though, it's going to hit the wallet.

Next week you say, fly up to Chiang Rai, we'll pick you up, stay for a few days and we'll party.

Seriously, no worries. It'd be a pleasure.

We're in Chiang Mai until Wednesday at noons place so, as an alternative you fly to CM we pick you up and bring you up to our place, stay and party for a while and then fly back out of Chiang Rai.

    Up to you.

I think I know the place...it's on the opposite side of the food hall, right?

@bb - yes, I can put it in my purse. It's made of plastic & deflatable - very useful in planning my next trip. Heh...

@css - yeah flowers win points. Know the song by Barbra, You don't bring me flowers? Lol. I don't know what pewter is. Heh..

Re: renewal of vows, it's not really the norm anymore, I think. Is your wife very Catholic? If yes, then she would maybe want it, but if no, then it won't be a big deal for her.

That sounds perfect to me, but I've got to work to pay the bills. October though, I'll have a couple of weeks and hopefully we'll be able to swing by and hang out for a week or two.

Keep in touch and we'll sort it out. Contact Noon to see how he can fit in.
