I haven't said anywhere that they should be allowed in.

It just seems to me that your alternatives are all half baked.

tbh I don't know what the answer is beyond continuing to cooperate with the French, who in my opinion have actually been pretty responsible in not just passing the problem on to the UK.

I also believe that income inequality is a massive part of the UK's social ills. The gap between rich and poor is growing all the time, especially under tory governments.

    I'm open to options.

How much worse will Britain need to become before action is taken? 1 in 10 homeless; 1 in 10; 1 in 5? No healthcare - just a privatized system for the wealthy? Only private education for those who can afford it (none for anybody else)?

Problems that you think are all directly related to immigration?

Or are some of them problems for which it's handy to have someone who looks and talks different as a scapegoat?

Of course many issues are directly linked to immigration, when you have uncontrolled mass immigration thus a never ending supply to cheap labour it keeps wages down, demand outstrips supply for houses thus pushing prices up for both buyers and renters, the extra people without the plans in place to cater for them puts pressure on schools, hospitals and all other services.

No one is against immigration, what people are against is uncontrolled immigration, want to come and work and live in the UK then do it legally and get a visa, rules which hopefully in time will apply to EU citizens.

The problem is exasperated by immigration. Let's also be clear: immigration to fill jobs from hardworking folks is great; immigration from folks who have researched how to maximize benefits and handouts with no intention of working is not.

Terrible governments. Lazy young British scroungers. Corrupt crony capitalist revolving door politics where our politicians support the bankers and large corporations to massive profits at the expense of the taxpayer. It's multifaceted, obviously...

Firstly, it isn't uncontrolled. But yes, the argument can be made that controls should be tight. The problem here is obviously separating the hard working from the scroungers. Many rural communities in the UK are already finding it difficult to get low paid agricultural work done.

    Agreed.
A huge part of the problem, as Farage has correctly pointed out. He might be a bit OTT, well actually he's definitely OTT, but he isn't wrong about everything.

Immigration is uncontrolled from within the EU, its only non EU citizens who require visas to live and work within the UK.

Everyone knows the benefit system in the UK is fucked, like or hate him at least IDS tried to do something about it and streamline it with universal credit. Housing benefit is the main issue as in no cheap council housing for a lot of scroungers so they end up renting in the private sector with the taxpayer picking up the tab and the money going to private landlords who you could argue are raping the taxpayer more than the scroungers.

    Agreed.

    It's a racket.

Thatcher began the wiping out of council housing as a priority, then Blair's labour had it well down on the priority list too.

Now we see the dangers in Thatcher's approach to slimming down g'ment involvement and letting capitalism run riot. In housing, in transport, and the newest get rich scheme - health.
