    Yeah I often think this.

I'm sure some do it as they think they qualify for a fucking medal for ''giving up'' smoking, and wanna show the world

I agree if you've got one of those massive fuckers and you blow out clouds of shit like Californian wildfires.

But the one I've got is actually the size of a Marlboro light and I doubt anyone would notice if they didn't look carefully.

So getting cancer is better than looking stupid? Anyway, the things are so widespread that they're seen as perfectly normal now. It's people with cigarettes that look weird, they smell bad too. Any smoker with the slightest amount of sense is switching to electronic ciggies.

Since the restriction on places to smoke in England, it makes you realise what a stinking filthy thing it really is, and how smokers have zero consideration for those around them

And it rather sad to see mothers pushing prams with a fag in one hand and their phone in the other. All too common in Uk

I find it hard to believe that anyone who lives here doesn't know it's illegal in Thailand, just like prostitution.
More vapers than smokers in my local.

A lot of my friends have converted to Vaping. The only problem here is that they don't sell the nicotine, you have to go to France and then smuggle it in.

When i am at my Mum's in Scotland i buy those e-cigarettes so as not to stink her house up. I quite like them. I do pop outside for a proper cig, and usually come home with a few packs of the duty free B&H i took with me. One day i only smoked five cigs, which compared to the usual pack is pretty good for me!!

It's strange how much has changed. I remember when I first started work that everybody smoked in the premises all the time. Smoking in cinemas, smoking in restaurants, the top deck of busses, on the tube, all stopped now thankfully. It's only a few years since smoking in pubs was banned, to a huge outcry, and now it's unthinkable to smoke in a bar. Most smokers don't even smoke in their own homes anymore, popping outside for a smoke because they don't want to stink up their houses. I was a smoker for 30 years but I still think that this country (the UK) is a better place since smoking came to be seen as an anti-social habit.

You might want to do a search on Thailand Tobacco Monopoly (TTM Ltd) (:: ???????????? ?????????????? ::) and Siam Tobacco Export Corporation Ltd, that should give you more than a few reasons why vaping is banned in Thailand.

Haven't done much research, but one view is that big tobacco is behind the success of the "vape market" in other countries...

Seems like Canada is way ahead in many respects...Not concerned about laws in Thailand until I return...Then, I'll get by with a little help from my friends...

I'll ask again...Has anyone seen the vape units for sale anywhere in Thailand?...I used to see E-Cigs and shite like that, but they never appealed to me...And now they stopped the shisha pipes, even in Arab town...

Anyhow, the cigs are cheap in Thailand...May have to take a break from the vape, occasionally...

FWIW possession and use of e cigs is legal in Thailand. It's the sale of them that's illegal and, as Misskit points out, that's hardly strictly enforced.

People are doing it in public, but being discreet about it by concealing the vaporizer in their hand.

Sorry, should have been more specific. As far as I know they're all legal to own and use but not to sell.

Here is what first came out with regards to vaping. Bob hit it right on the head. Its all about tax and the TTM.

As per the lawyer from the Facebook post :

    Lawyer :

If you have an electronic cigarette in your possession or any device it is illegal.
Because Electronic cigarettes are a banned item for importing. Importing Electronic Cigarettes has a current penalty of 5 years imprisonment including a fine.

The Police have the right to arrest you for your Electronic Cigarettes. The arresting officer has to take you to the police station that he is assigned to, to charge you with the law that prohibits electronic cigarettes to be imported “ Section 20 of the customs act”

    Customs Act 2469

(He just refers to the laws)

    Section 20

Any person found committing or attempting to commit or employing or aiding or inciting any person to commit an offence under the provisions of this Act may be arrested without warrant by any Competent Official, and taken, with any exhibit as to which the offence or attempted offence may have been committed, to a police station to take legal action. If there are reasonable grounds to suspect that any person commits an offence under the provision hereof or possesses article relating to a previous offence or which might be used to commit an offence, the Competent Officer may arrest such person and dealt with this case in a like manner.

    Section 27

Section 27. Any person imports or brings into the Kingdom any tax unpaid, restricted, or prohibited goods, or any goods which has not duly passed through the customs, or exports or takes such goods out of the Kingdom or assists in any way in importing or exporting or removing or assisting to removal without permission from any ship, quay, godown, warehouse, place of security, or store room, or provide the place to keep, or conceals such goods, or permits or arranges other persons to do so or is involved in any manner in carrying, removing, or dealing with such goods in any manner to avoid or attempt to avoid the payment of customs tax or of any duties of avoid or attempt to avoid any provisions of law and restrictions relating to the importation, exportation, landing, warehousing, and delivery of goods with the intention to defraud the government tax of His Majesty the King with must be paid for such goods or avoids the prohibition or restriction of such goods, for each offence there shall be a fine of four times the amount of price of the goods including duty or to imprisonment for a term of not exceeding ten years, or to both.31

As of 2016 The Ministry of Commerce have declared and announced that bringing in Shishas or Electronic cigarettes into the kingdom in 2016 is prohibited.

The Ministry of Commerce have officially announced that Shishas and Electronic cigarettes are banned items and not to be imported Since 2014.

Section 4 states that Shishas and Electronic cigarettes are banned goods to be imported into the kingdom.

^ So if I were to buy a proper Vaporizer - would that negate the negative health effects of Marijuana?

Could I then smoke the shite with a clear conscience?

To be honest, I really miss smoking it, but I definitely became addicted to it (or at least, dependent on it)
I feel great off it... sharper mind, lost 5 kg - face looks fresher (or so my missus says 55)..

I'm surprised to hear some of you partake..

I think any smoker with the slightest amount of sense ought to think about quitting, full stop.
I remember how hard it was to quit nicotine, personally. Probably the world's most addictive drug.

I gave up smoking after 40 plus years of addiction. Went cold turkey and beat it without too much of a struggle once I realised I was bigger than the addiction.

Nicotine is still tougher to give up than, say, heroin because of the way it fucks with your receptors and the synaptic junctions in your brain releasing reward packages to your 'self' in the form of that cigarette after you felt you earned it, and weaving the addiction into the fabric of your being for years is a real bastard to overcome. However, the Damascene moment was when I truly realised that it wasn't the cigarette at all that I needed but the entire apparatus of the addiction which itself becomes a purpose worthy of very life itself - once you realise that, it's a very small step to say "fuck this addiction", who needs it. Physical cravings are gone after a few days when your body becomes free from the effects, but those fucking receptors in your brain scratch away inside your skull, and your soul, for around three months. I stopped trying to kill the wingman after about 4 days when I substituted chocolate for the fags and ate salty peanuts with my beer. Really, after a month I was pretty sure I was out of the woods and knew I could hack it and remain addiction free.

I still like the smell of cigarette smoke though but the stink of an old ashtray or a room/garage used for smoking is quite repellent.

My gums are in better shape, my breath doesn't smell of an old chimney stack - I can smell the breath of someone who has had a cigarette from 10 feet away after their entering the room and it's bad - and I have reduced my daily coffee intake by 80%. I added 5 kgs though which is a bit odd since I haven't consumed more food than usual and quit the chocolate thing months ago but smokers tend to metabolise quicker it seems.

Health wise, vaping will save hundreds of thousands of lives but for me I knew that nothing less than cold turkey was going to kick the addiction - walking around with a crutch is just a reminder of the addiction and as someone has already mentioned, it is impossible to look cool whilst vaping and most seem to be in the throes of taking a dump whist cogitating on some aspect of quantum physics before lapsing into a blank imbecility.
