    Cheeky French Bastards!!!

Migrants in Calais camps seeking asylum in the UK should be allowed to lodge their claim in France, the president of the region has told the BBC.
Xavier Bertrand said many of the 9,000 migrants wanted to cross the border.
He said he wanted a new deal in which they could apply for UK asylum at a "hotspot" in France rather than having to wait to reach British soil.

    & the correct answer is:

The Home Office said "those in need of protection should seek asylum in the first safe country they enter".
    ...
UK politicians have said the migrants in Calais should claim asylum in France if they need protection.
    ...
Under EU rules, known as the Dublin Regulation, asylum seekers should claim asylum in the first safe country they come to.
Calais chief wants new migrant border deal with UK - BBC News

The french have been getting away with this for decades; instead of dealing with the refugees/immigrants/asylum seekers as EU rules dictate, they just build a camp and hope they find their way to Blighty; utterly disgraceful...
    Cycling should be banned!!!

Not that i'm defending the French position as they should be processing and deporting the people themselves but all the people in Calais have obviously passed through other EU countries before arriving in France who have failed to intercept them or turned a blind eye, isn't free movement a great idea!!!!!

Some members of my family just drove to Germany via Calais, frightening were just a few of the words they used. Specially when you're heading back to the UK.

It's been the success British governments who are to blame, for allowing these aliens to claim asylum once they land on U.K. Soil.
That's the crux, the reward is great for making it. If they where deported immediately they wouldn't bother.
The Calais camps have over 100 single unaccompanied children under 5 years old. What. 5 year olds making their way from Asia to Britain alone.

Being an island nation it shouldn't be easy to get here and it wouldn't be if various EU countries did their job.

You'll have to take the same measures as other EU countries has done, build a fence.

This word is usually used in a joking manner rather than with a serious tone.

Can be used as a playful insult against someone who has wronged you but did no real harm. In most places it is ironically considered less offensive than using the word 'bastard' alone.

On a serious note. Any asylum seeker could apply for asylum at the British Embassy in their own country.

The total, all-encompassing ignorance of your mind-numbing stupidity is perhaps your only saviour in that anyone so profoundly dumb hasn't any insight into his imbecility.

The scum balls that fetch up in France and journey to Calais do not claim asylum. They want the British combination of benefits, housing, free health, education and work opportunities that are so much better than anything available on the continent.

They are in France illegally. They do not wish to remain in France under the auspices of the 1951 Convention from which most would not in truth benefit given they are all economic migrant opportunist dross that wouldn't qualify for a visa in eternity. The French kick them out back to Belgium, Germany etc but they come back - France, if it has escaped your notice, is part of the land mass we know as the "continent" and therefore they walk over the border which of course doesn't exist in any physical sense.

Sometimes they beat the shit out of the dross when dumping them back but they still come back.

They want to go England because they know the English are lazy, stupid, benefit - ridden dross that hate working and rather than give up giving their own untermensch this free ride known as the British welfare state they know the government will give them the same if they get in to Britain because the British won't discriminate between shit and sugar because of inclusivity, and treating Pakis the same as other human beings is apparently normal which is not usual at all in the rest of the world.

The problem wth allowing the scum to get into Britain through France is that this will be a red flag to all the others around the world who will make a beeline for France known g that in the end they will get in.

The problem is quite simply the British are too generous with their benefits and welfare state. If they were not so stupid these scumbags would not come. I feel sorry for the French and really do think they are between a rock and a hard place.

These migrants are not returnable to their own countries because they have no documents identifying their nationality and identity or their countries are lawless shitholes.

Reducing things to the level where they might be understood by the average lay british moron is pointless - these folk are so fucking dumb they voted to leave the EU and wouldn't know their arsehole form a hole in the ground.

Including you, Bettyboo, it seems ...... and you are meant to be a fucking teacher???!!

Sarkozy electioneering....pass no remarks.....although i do think its clear that France deliberately placed the reception centre in Calais in order to offload its asylum seeker problem onto Britain and secondarily Ireland.

They say that the lakes of Killarney are fair
No stream like the Liffey could ever compare

If it's water you want you'll find nothing rarer
Than the stuff they make down by the ocean

    The sea, oh the sea

Long may it stay between France and me
Oh thank fuck we're surrounded by water

Erm.. no, the original reception was placed there by the Red Cross because that's where all the folks were and closed down by Sarkozy when he was Interior Minister.

The ignorance in this thread is quite breathtaking.

My point was, why Calais and not Lille or Grenoble etc...when the centre opened or closed is irrelevant ...it is there. Located close to the Port Complex and the vehicle boarding area and the Tunnel entrance. The cost of security at these locations is down to the UK taxpayer to the tune of £19 million over 3 years ( agreed ).
I might suggest contradictory elements at work. Vive la France.

Why don't you do some research before running your filthy Brit chauvinist mouth?

    For example:
UK - In 2014, 4,015 asylum seekers were approved to stay.
    France - In 2014, 5,825 were approved.
